2013 has been an amazing year at Willamette Speedway when it comes to IMCA Modified action. In eight races there have been eight different winners during the course of the current campaign. On Wednesday July 3rd Monte Bischoff of Medford would become the ninth different winner in nine shows after capturing a rare mid-week show at the historic 1/3-mile oval.

Bischoff would seize the early race lead and would utilize the high side of the race track for much of the feature. Keeping his Payroll Specialties/Hoppes Construction #F1 Impressive out in front he would soon be challenged by Curtis Towns around lap fourteen. The SKS Racing/Valley Rose Construction #24 X-Factor of Towns would seize the lead briefly before the caution would come out. Unfortunately for Towns under yellow he would have mechanical problems that would take him out of competition.

On the ensuing restart Craig Hanson of Albany would challenge Bischoff for the top spot. The Virgil Hanson Automotive Machine/BSB Manufacturing #33C Shaw of Hanson couldn’t quite secure the lead and would be on the defense for second as Coburg’s Jesse Williamson was coming into the picture on the high side. Williamson would secure second driving his father Les’ Furniture Options/Housing Options #W7 Loose Gruff and would concentrate his efforts on the leader Bischoff.

As the race would go on and on Bischoff would keep his mount out in front despite the constant pressure from Williamson. A late caution on lap twenty-three would bunch up the field one final time. Bischoff mastered the restart and led the rest of the distance to earn the victory.

Jesse Williamson finished the evening in second followed by the A-Line Concrete Cutting/Shepard Performance #15M Rayburn of Vancouver, Washington’s Matt Mitchell. Craig Hanson would cross the stripe in fourth and completing the top five in fifth was Brett James of Albany in the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body #26 GRT.

Willamette Speedway will be back in action for this Saturday July 6th. Classes in competition will include DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, and Sportsman. The DIRTcar Super Late Models will participate in a one-hundred lap feature and once all of the events get completed the track will host a Fireworks Spectacular. Ticket prices for July 6th will be $15.00 for Adults, $13.00 for Seniors/Juniors/Military, Youths $7.00, and Family Passes (Two Adults and up to Four Youths) will be $40.00. Pit gates will open at 1:00 PM, front gates 3:30 PM, and racing should be getting started around 6:00 PM. For more information log on to www.trophymotorsports.com.
