Lucas Oil ASCS National Returning For Sunday Showdown At Missouri State Fair Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (August 15, 2017) Following a break for teams to take part in the Knoxville Nationals, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network along with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will wrap up the Missouri State Fair as two series headline the Missouri State Fair Championship at the “Historic Half-Mile” Missouri State Fair Speedway on Sunday, August 20.

It's important to note, that the race is being promoted by Randy Combs and Larry McCown and pays $3,000 to win $400 to start. On top of the purse, Don Long's Searsboro Telephone Company has put up $1,000 with each Heat Race winner getting $100 of that money, with the remainder going to the night's Hard Charger in the A-Feature.

Is series history, Missouri State Fair Speedway has seen 18 nights of racing with the National Tour with the series’ first seeing action on May 28, 1995 with Oklahoma’s Tommie Estes, Jr. picking up the win.

The second event of the season at the Missouri State Fair Speedway for the two series of the American Sprint Car Series, events on April 15, 2017 came down to a near photo finish between Johnny Herrera and race winner, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. who is the 15th driver to pick up an Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event win at the Fairgrounds oval.

Leading National Tour standings going into this weekend, Hafertepe holds a 120 point advantage over Aaron Reutzel, who won at Sedalia in 2015, and is coming into the weekend on a wave of momentum following the Knoxville Nationals. Wayne Johnson holds third in tour standings with Matt Covington and Johnny Herrera making up the top-five.

Sunday, August 20 at the Missouri State Fair Speedway rolls to life at 7:00 P.M. (CDT) and includes ULMA Late Models. Admission is $20 for adults with senior and military admitted for $18. Kids 13-17 get in for $10. Ages 6-12 are $5 and kids five and under are free into the grandstands. Admission into the races does not include the Missouri State Fair.

For the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps, the top spot continues to be carried off by Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell. With two Reginal race nights on the weekend, Cornell will face off with the Warrior Region on Friday, August 18 at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo. With a commanding 507 point lead over Miles Paulus, the series top-five includes Danny Thoman, Taylor Walton, and Tony Bruce, Jr. Friday, August 18 pays $1,500 to win and $300 to start for the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps with action underway with Hot Laps at 7:30 P.M.
