SAT. JUNE 17 - 360 SPRINT CARS - SPORTSMAN SPRINTS - MODIFIEDS
Alger, WA – After a week of no race cars at Skagit Speedway because Mother Nature didn’t want to play nice, we are back this Saturday, June 17th! The sound of fire breathing 360 Sprint Cars, Sportsman Sprint Cars and the Skagit Aggregates Modified are all on tap for Saturday.
For the second time this year the 360 Sprint Car Division makes an appearance at Skagit Speedway. It has been over a month since the 360s saw the track, but now they are back! The 360s were supposed to get two weeks of racing in before the 51st Annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup, (June 22-24, 2023) but not anymore as we are under 10 days away from the 51st Annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup!
The season opener in the 360s was dominated by Jesse Schlotfeldt. Schlotfeldt had a fast car all night long but when it came down to the A-Main, it was going to be tough getting by the front row. Colton Heath and Trey Starks locked out positions one and two forcing Schlotfeldt to the second row. Schlotfeldt was smart in how he picked off spots to move forward in the feature allowing him to get his first win of the year.
Joining the 360 Sprint Cars will be the Sportsman Sprint Cars for their third appearance at Skagit Speedway. Through two races so far, they have not disappointed with action aplenty! Night one saw Eric Fisher reach victory lane in his inaugural Sportsman Sprint Car race back at Skagit Speedway, while night two came down to a last lap pass for the win.
Levi Klatt made steady progress throughout the A-Main during night two working his way through the field until he got to second place where it looked like Fisher’s lead would be too much for Klatt to track down. Low and behold Klatt cut into what was almost a straightaway lead to pass Fisher out of corner number four to steal away the win.
For their second time also at Skagit Speedway the Skagit Aggregates Modified come to race and put on a show. Their first appearance came during the John Carrol Classic, and they did not disappoint with a battle upfront throughout the entire A-Main. Rick Smith and Goeff Morris went to war over the top spot as Morris threw shot after shot at Smith to no avail as the caution flag played spoiler anytime, he got close. Smith went back to the lead on the final restart, but Morris ran him down like had before and finally made the race winning move to take the lead and the win away from Smith.
