SKAGIT SPEEDWAY CELEBRATES 65 YEARS OF FAMILY FUN!
Back in 1954, a group of young hot rod racers and car owners decided they wanted to build a dirt track. The property was located south of Bellingham in the fertile Skagit Valley and their plans moved ahead. Many volunteers spent countless hours blasting stumps and clearing the land where the legendary oval would come to life. The original group of racers and workers were merely trying to have another place to play with their jalopy race cars. What they didn’t realize was their determination and hard work would set the foundation of Skagit Speedway becoming one of the premier racing facilities in the country.
From the humble beginnings of a 14 acre site to the present day footprint of 134 acres, Skagit Speedway has grown from a nice community place to gather to a modern day facility that sanctions national level events that are televised around the world.
One thing that has stayed consistent for the past 65 years is the dedication and commitment from the fans, racers and workers to make their personal race track the best it can be!
We invite all of you to join us this year as we all celebrate ’65 Years of Family Fun!’
