The Story From Lernerville- Schuerenberg Rolls to Victory; Dietz Makes it Back to Back Wins; Krummert Tops RUSH Sportsman Mods

Sarver, PA (April 30, 2022) The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars returned to The Action Track for the first time since 2019 on a crisp and clear Friday night, and they did not disappoint to say the least, providing fans in attendance In a fast and furious 30-lap $6,000 to win main event, Sikeston, Missouri's Hunter Schuerenberg found his way under race leader Justin Peck with a pass on lap 11 off the bottom of the speedway in turn two in thick lapped traffic, and never never looked back, en route to collecting his second career All Star victory. Meanwhile, Tyler Dietz made it back to back wins to start the season in Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stock action while Diehl Automotive Big Block Modified driver Garrett Krummert took a hard fought victory in the season opener for the visiting RUSH Sportsman Modified Series.

Schuerenberg started on the outside pole alongside Justin Peck who started out to the early lead. Behind them, series points leader Tyler Courtney, invader Buddy Kofoid and Greg Wilson rounded out the top five in the early going. Wilson made his way around Kofoid for the fourth spot on lap four as Schuerenberg and Courtney engaged in a tight battle for the second position with both drivers changing preferred lines as the need arose. Meanwhile, out front the lapped traffic began to thicken just in time for Schuerenberg to cut to the bottom of turn two and bolt down the backstretch into the lead.

Caution waved for a slowing Zeb Wise with 13 laps in the books, providing an opportunity for Peck and his pursuers to run down the race leader and when racing resumed Wilson shot around Courtney to take over the third spot and taking the second spot from Peck just two laps later. With the laps clicking away and more lapped traffic ahead, Schuerenberg was able to maneuver wherever he needed to, putting cars behind him with relative ease while Courtney took the second spot away from Wilson on the final lap.

"I'm so proud of Coco and we call him Danny Appleseed there, they are my crew, those two guys and we made the decision to let them have a little more responsibility this year," a grateful Schuerenberg said in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory lane. "I'm not calling any shots on this race car this year, they're just two young guys getting started out, doing it themselves and they just have the work ethic to go along with we need, it's the difference this year. I knew last year I just needed to focus on being a race car driver instead of trying to call the shots on this car and drive it. It's too hard to do that when you're trying to compete against good drivers and crew chiefs and Coco and Danny were up to the challenge and they're doing a great job."

"I think it was a good night overall," Tyler Courtney remarked. "We were third quick in qualifying, won our heat and took third in the dash and second in the feature. Hats off to Hunter and the team, they were really good tonight. I just barely squeaked by Greg there to get second. We were better at the end of the race, we were just a little lackluster in the middle part." Meanwhile, the venerable Greg Wilson continued his recent run of podium finishes with a solid performance

"Andy Potter and Joe are just doing a hell of a job and getting me comfortable," Wilson stated post-race. "To have my wife and kids traveling with me, riding in the car and just chilling out is just good for me mentally. Just thank the good lord above that we get to drive race cars for a living still and hopefully we get us one here pretty quick"

Chris Schneider and Joey Zambotti comprised a very formidable front row that looked very much prepared to battle for all 20 laps as the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks came to the green flag. However, Todd Weldon and two time track champion Tyler Dietz were poised to charge forward to join them up front and made their presence known almost immediately. Schneider stretched out to an early lead over Zambotti who wound up with an ill handling race car, causing him to nearly leave the speedway surface in the early going and would eventually retire before the halfway mark. Weldon made his way past Schneider following a lap three restart while Mike Bordt, Cody Koteles and Dietz joined the action up front.

A caution at the halfway mark set the stage for the drama that was to unfold as Dietz made his way around Schneider for the second spot and began his pursuit of Weldon in the lead. Weldon looked to have the win salted away, having put some distance between he and Dietz in the closing laps, until a caution on lap 19 for Brett Hutira re-stacked the field. On the ensuing restart, Weldon held the advantage slightly going into turn one until Dietz made contact with him at the apex of turns one and two, sending Weldon into a spin and ending his chances to capture the win. After one more green-white-checkers restart, Dietz pulled away from his closest pursuers and crossed first at the line for his second feature win of the season.

"I shouldn't have won, " Dietz said in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane. "I should have been sent to the back. I totally took Todd out, not intentionally, and he's always raced me with a lot of respect. I was carrying too much speed and I clobbered him and I'm really sorry."

Preston Cope and Jacob Wolfe brought the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature to the green flag and when action got underway Wolfe found some instant momentum on the bottom of the speedway to take the lead with Cope and veteran Rob Kristyak behind him. Meanwhile, weekly Big Block Modified competitor, seventh starting Garrett Krummert was making up ground quickly and following an early race restart, he found himself directly behind the race leader. The two drivers then battled for the lead side by side for the lead, trading the spot in the process from time to time. However, Wolfe was unyielding in his defense and held off the 2020 Lernerville Big Block Modified champion for nearly half the race until Krummert managed to take the lead for good on lap 12. once out front, Krummert never looked back, crossing under the checkers first in the season opener for the RUSH Modifieds.

"I was actually trying to get him to see me above him (Wolfe) hoping it would get him to move off the bottom because I thought the bottom was the place to be," Krummert said in victory lane. "He was good tonight."

Racing returns to The Action Track next Friday night for another Fab4 Friday Revved Up with Marburger Farm Dairy featuring the Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Cars, Precise Racing Products Late Models, Diehl Automotive Big Block Modifieds and the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks. Grandstands will open at 5 PM with racing starting at 7:30 PM.
