Sarver, PA (July 11, 2019) The chase for the championships ramps back up this Friday night as the second half of the Fab4 Revved up with Marburger Farm Dairy Iced Tea unfolds at The Action Track. And it's also time for our annual Christmas in July as we decorate the speedway, creating a festive atmosphere complete with Santa Claus and contests for best decorated concession stand and driver pit area.
We will also have special guests in attendance at the STARS battling childhood brain tumors will be taking in an evening of racing and getting to meet drivers as well.
Heading into the second half, AJ Flick has a firm 32 point lead over Jack Sodeman Jr. in Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprint action and is showing no signs of delivering any early Christmas presents to the rest of the field anytime soon in the way of opportunities. Behind Flick and Sodeman, Carl Bowser, Ralph Spithaler and Sye Lynch round out the top five in the standings through six event nights thus far. However, Lynch currently leads the way in feature wins with two with Flick, Sodeman, Bowser and Brandon Matus each having taken one win.
At the start of the season, many thought that Michael Norris would have no problem securing yet another Lernerville title. However, things have changed for the Sarver, PA driver. Following mechanical issues early in the campaign, Norris found new fortune in an opportunity with owner Todd Cerenzia and then found himself on top of the podium on June 21 in a Preliminary night victory at the 13th annual Firecracker 100. And the winds of change swirled once again a week later for Norris when he was presented another opportunity with Clint Boywer Racing, substituting for the injured Don O'Neal on the Lucas Oil Late Model Series.
The door was then open for a potential new champion in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models and Ken Schaltenbrand has stepped right through. The veteran pilot has one feature win to his credit thus far and has been a solid fixture in the top five this season. Behind him, former two time champion Jared Miley has made his presence felt with a feature win and has shown speed each week. Miley currently sits 19 points behind Schaltenbrand in the title chase.
In the Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, two time champion Rex King Jr. and seven time champ Brian Swartzlander find themselves separated by eight points heading into Friday. Swartzlander leads the field with two feature wins on the season, but trails King Jr in the standings while Garrett Krummert, Jeremiah Shingledecker and former champion Mat Williamson each have one win on their season so far. Rex King Sr., Krummert and Dave Murdick take up positions three through five in the standings currently.
And the most hotly contested points battle heading into the second half is once again belongs to the Millertown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks. Multi-time champion Corey McPherson finds himself eight points behind the red hot Joey Zambotti while both Tyler Dietz and Ryan Moyer both find themselves within striking distance and very much in the running for the title. Zambotti leads the way with two feature wins this season while Dietz, Moyer and McPherson have scored one apiece.
The Lernerville Kids Club will be returning to action once again this Friday night partaking in Christmas Bingo with Santa Claus. The children will then lead the crowd in reciting the pledge of allegiance as part of our pre-race ceremonies. Kids Club meets at 6:30 pm under the turn four grandstands and is free for all children.
Pits will open at 4 pm, grandstands will open at 5 pm and racing will begin at 7:30 pm. Adult general admission is $15, $12 for seniors and $10 for students ages 11-17.
