ULTIMATE CHALLENGE AT OSKALOOSA TO PAY $3,000 TO WIN
OSKALOOSA, IOWA (July 6, 2019) – After a successful debut for the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League at Southern Iowa Speedway last August, the budding sanctioning body is heading back to the Oskaloosa, Iowa half-mile for another round of the Ultimate Challenge on Tuesday, August 6. With some more money on the line this time, racers will be competing for a $3,000 to win payday along with one of the most unique trophies in sprint car racing, the championship belt.
“Having traditional sprint cars included in the Ultimate Challenge is something I know fans and racers are excited about,” Said WAR Sprint League Director, Casey Shuman. “Terry [McCarl] and his family do a ton for the racers at their events, whether it is increasing the pay, extra giveaway items, or so much more. We are proud to be invited to this historic event and can’t wait for next month’s trip to Osky.”
A staple in early August for decades, the Ultimate Challenge is the perfect lead-in to the iconic Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway, where the WAR Sprints are competing this weekend in the inaugural BRANDT Corn Belt Nationals. Set for Tuesday, August 6, the Ultimate Challenge follows the Front Row Challenge, which pays $20,000 to win for Winged 410 Sprint Cars the night before on Monday, August 5 at Oskaloosa.
Racing alongside the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, the Ultimate Challenge offers fans the best of both worlds with Winged 360 Sprint Cars and the traditional non-wing sprint cars. Last year’s WAR debut at Southern Iowa Speedway gave fans an exciting show as Kevin Thomas Jr. of Cullman, Ala. won the championship belt ahead of Riley Kreisel, Zach Daum, Isaac Chapple and Landon Simon.
