ENSIGN 3 FOR 3 AT PETALUMA SPEEDWAY IN 2014

Another round of the PitStopUSA 360 Sprint Car Series has quickly started to mean another win for Geoff Ensign. To say Ensign is rolling in the Lay Racing, Les Schwab Tire, D&F Auto Body, Rod Buntjer Bail Bonds, Rapid Rooter #24b would be an understatement. Ensign has turned from hunter to hunted in three short races, and through it all, the Open Trailer Mafia is 3 for 3 at Petaluma Speedway in 360 Sprint Car action after the Sebastopol, CA ace won for the third time in as many tries in Round #4 of the PitStopUSA Sprint Car Series.

Qualifying 2nd, “The Human Highlight Reel” would start 4th in his heat race. At the drop of the green flag, Ensign launched from 4th to the lead by turn 1 with an outside move on a track where cars were trying to find the bottom. “When the front row went, I jumped outside and got a great run into 1. I cleared Chase (Johnson, pole sitter) coming out of two and it was smooth sailing from there.” Ensign would win the heat race, and his car owner Sherry Lay would go to pull a pill for the random starting order at the front of the main event where a six put Ensign outside row 3, in search of his third main event win in a row at his home track.

Making quick work of the top two rows, Ensign would make the point on lap 3 after a near miss on the first lap where he had to almost spin the car out to avoid contact. Only slowed by a few yellows to slow the proceedings, in the end, Ensign won his 33rd sprint car race in pretty much uneventful fashion. “This one would have been a lot closer if Herman (Klein) didn’t break that shock I have to assume. He’s always fast here and when I didn’t see him show me a wheel on the restarts, I figured something was up. We’ve got this thing rolling good right now. From my crew chief Joe Stiles to my crew Dave, my dad and Ralphie, they all just dive in when stuff needs to get changed. We were changing bars when cars were getting pushed off for the feature. Seriously, I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel in two weeks and see what we can do about keeping this thing going.”
