[b PETALUMA, CA (7-3-10) -] After an action packed round five in Quincy two weeks ago, the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway on the Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds. The lighting fast 3/8 mile oval in the heart of the Sonoma wine country is sure to produce high speed thrills as more than 30 of Northern California's top drivers are expected to compete in their second appearance of the year in the North Bay.
When it comes to high action thrills, the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Series will never let an avid open wheel race fan down and is sure to bring a new fan back to the track once they witness the spectacle. This year, the Hoosier Tires sponsored series is competing for more than $240,000 over the year and nearly $25,000 in championship funds. Additional contingency sponsors throughout the year are expected to exceed $30,000 in product awards as well. Saturday's event will pay $2000 to win and $300 to start the A-feature.
Entering Saturday's event, former four time Civil War Series Champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn leads the Civil War point standings. Forsberg won the previous event this season at Petaluma Speedway and has a total of three top five finishes in the campaign this year. The driver known as "Mr. Excitement" is currently 14-points ahead of former two time series champion Mike Henry of Sacramento.

Klein won the season opener at Placerville Speedway and has two top five finishes to his name. Mason Moore of Princeton is fourth in the standings with a pair of top fives so far.
Rounding out the top five in the standings is Sean Becker of Antelope. Becker is the defending Civil War Series champion that is still seeking his first win in the series in 2010. Becker has finished in the top five three different times this year.
