Lucas Oil Speedway cancels dirt-track program with storm chances high for Saturday evening
WHEATLAND, MO. (June 8, 2024) - With weather forecasts calling for thunderstorms starting early Saturday evening, Lucas Oil Speedway has canceled the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series program for the dirt track.
The Kentucky Drag Boat Association Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas is being held on Saturday afternoon and remains on the schedule for Sunday. But Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said multiple weather forecast outlets are in agreement that rain will fall between 5 and 10 p.m.
"There's also calling for strong wind and possible hail. We don't want to put our fans in danger and we want to give our drivers and those driving several hours plenty of advance notice," Lorton said. "We look forward to seeing everyone next week."
Action on the dirt track is set to resume Saturday, June 15th as The Bolivar Herald-Free Press Presents the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series Mid-Season Championships. Discount coupons will be available in The Bolivar Herald-Free Press.
The Hermitage Lumber POWRi Late Models, Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds, O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars and the Clear Creek Golf Car USRA B-Mods will be in action and the POWRi Super Stocks are scheduled as a guest class.
Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with grandstands at 5, hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
KDBA Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas: The KDBA Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas continues on Saturday through late afternoon. Eliminations leading to championship rounds is tentatively set to get underway at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
