USRA Stock Cars headline Lucas Oil Speedway's Weekly Racing Series Round 3 on Saturday
WHEATLAND, MO. (May 16, 2022) - The rapidly growing O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Car division headlines this Saturday's Round 3 of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series action at Lucas Oil Speedway.
The Stock Cars will run a special 25-lap feature for $750 to win as the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series resumes after taking a week off as open-wheel cars took center stage. It will be Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Night at the Races Presented by NMI/Wild Animal Safari.
The Hermitage Lumber Late Models, Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds and Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods also will be in action as points battles resume.
It's a close points race early in the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Car season as an average of 22 cars have entered through three programs in the second-year division. Mason Beck of Urbana has capitalized on a pair of top-five runs and leads the points by 11 over Bryan White of Lebanon. Mark Simon of Buffalo and Robert White of Lebanon are knotted for third, 39 behind Beck.
Meanwhile, it's a standoff in the Hermitage Lumber Late Models thus far as defending track champion Cole Henson of Russellville and Larry Ferris of Nevada are tied for the lead. Each driver has one feature win and one second-place finish. Tucker Cox of Jefferson City sits just 13 points behind.
Two other reigning track champs are off to outstanding starts to their seasons. Dillon McCowan of Urbana already has three Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modified feature wins in four attempts and is 55 points in front of Fulton's Ryan Middaugh.
Six-time track champion Kris Jackson of Lebanon, with two feature victories in three outings, is 28 points clear of Springfield's Ryan Gillmore and 29 in front of Nevada's Jon Sheets.
The second of four scheduled Kids Power Wheel races are set for intermission. It's for youngsters ages 3-9 with the kids racing on the front straightaway during intermission, navigating a course outlined by orange cones.
The youngsters can enter their own battery-powered Power Wheel cars by signing up for the Frogs Jr. Fan Club on the south end of the Midway prior to the races.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday with hot laps set for 6:30 and opening ceremonies at 7.
