Fan voting underway for Lucas Oil Speedway's Most Popular Driver Award
By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- Everyone knows it’s an election year. Things are no different at Lucas Oil Speedway, where it’s time for the annual voting as fans select the Most Popular Driver from Lucas Oil Speedway’s Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series.
The polls are open from now through October 16 as fans can cast their vote at http://www.LucasOilSpeedway.com for the annual award. Drivers in the top 10 in final points in the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models and O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks are eligible.
There's even a place for a write-in vote if your favorite driver is not listed. One vote per email address is permitted.
“This is a fun award we can up with a few years ago to help give some additional recognition to our drivers and directly involve our fans in the process,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. “We invite everyone to participate and support their favorite Lucas Oil Speedway weekly driver.”
Late Model driver Kaeden Cornell of Willard has won the Most Popular Driver award each of the last three years.
The winner of the award will be announced later this fall, following the conclusion of the Lucas Oil Speedway season in mid-October. Lorton said that due to driver feedback, options are being considered in how to honor the top 10 drivers in each division with plans to be announced in a few weeks.
Hockett/McMillin Memorial next up: After taking the upcoming weekend off, action on the dirt track resumes with the 10th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial, Sept. 17-19. Full programs are set for each night as the stars of the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series National Tour and POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprints will be in action.
