Lucas OIl Speedway's annual Military and Veterans Appreciation Night set for Saturday
By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- Lucas Oil Speedway has a long-standing tradition of honoring Military members, past and present, by asking them to stand and be recognized during pre-race ceremonies each week.
This Saturday night that recognition shines a bit brighter. It will be the annual Veterans and Military Appreciation Night edition of The Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, Presented by KOLR/KRBK. All veterans and active military personnel with ID will be admitted free.

"This is one weekly that I especially enjoy as we get to show our respects to the Veterans and Military personnel of all our branches of service," said Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton, himself a United States Navy veteran.
"I know we acknowledge them each week, but this week they get just a little more special treat of free admission, just one way of saying thanks from Lucas Oil Speedway," Lorton added.
The Big Adventure RV Weekly Series is back in action after last weekend's successful doubleheader CMH Diamond Nationals Presented by Super Clean. The Ozark Golf Cars USRA B Mods will be the featured class, running a 25-lap, $750-to-win main event. Also in action will be he Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks also will be in action.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05. Special attractions on the midway will be the GEICO Military race car and the Old Wheels Car Club/Callaway Cruisers.
The home stretch of the regular season is starting to come into focus with just over a month remaining in the championship chases. Only in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks division, where Wheatland's Toby Ott holds a 77-point lead over Johnny Coats, is there a fairly comfortable amount of separation at the top.
Kris Jackson of Lebanon, who has five feature wins at Lucas Oil Speedway this season, leads JC Morton by 47 points in the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mod division. Robbie Reed of Mexico, Missouri paces the Pitts Homes USRA Modified class by 40 points over Paden Phillips. The closest race is in the Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, with Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City 15 clear of Kaeden Cornell and 26 of Aaron Marrant.
