Hill Scores Best Finish of Her Season at Lake Ozark Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (May 28, 2019) – Alex Hill finally managed to avoid misfortune and she raced to her best finish of the year against a stout Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour field Sunday night at Lake Ozark Speedway.
“It was nice to finally finish a feature after the way things have been going lately,” said Hill, who had been forced out of three consecutive A Mains due to other drivers’ miscues. “I’ve hated it for our team because we’ve been faster recently, although our results don’t show it.”
Her evening didn’t have the best beginning as she drew the seventh starting spot in her eight-car heat race.
“The start messed us up,” she said. “I was in the slop and dropped back to last. I was able to move back to seventh and was gaining on the other cars, but ran out of laps.”
Hill’s heat race finish forced her to line up eighth in the B Main.
“We had a restart before we completed a lap and that moved me up a row,” she said. “After that, my car was really working well and I was able to move toward the front. I made it to second and was closing on the leader when the race ended.”
Hill lined up in the 19th starting spot in the night’s 25-car main event thanks to her runner-up result in the B Main.
“I didn’t have a very good start and fell back a bit,” she said. “Then I moved to the middle and started passing some cars. I made it up to about 13th or 14th when the middle started going away and my car became too tight. I moved to the top and it was tight up there, too. I eventually finished 16th.”
The previous night at Lake Ozark Speedway was similar to Hill’s two prior ASCS events as she showed speed, but ended the evening on the hook.
“Daryl gave me another fast car in the heat race,” she said. “We went from ninth to sixth and we were right behind the fourth- and fifth-place cars at the finish.”
Her effort qualified her for the 16th starting spot in the A Main.
“We only made it a couple of laps when the car I was trying to pass spun out in front of me exiting turn two,” she said. “I was on the inside of him and already on the berm so I had no place to go. We didn’t have a lot of damage, but enough to put us out of the race.
“It was frustrating because it was the third race in a row where a car in front of us had spun and collected us to end our night.”
With bad luck hopefully behind her, Hill is eager to begin the ASCS National Tour’s Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek this Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.
“I’m looking forward to starting Speedweek this Saturday in Amarillo,” she said. “I think we’re faster now than we were earlier this year and I hope we can have some good luck instead of bad luck now.”
