DAVIS REPEATS, BATES, KENT, GARRISON, KNEBEL WIN FIRST OF 2017

Tulsa, OKLA (April 9th, 2017) - Chad Davis repeats, Brent Bates, Johnny Kent, Dalton Garrison, Wesley Knebel win first races of 2017.

Dalton Garrison was the man to beat in this Saturday Night's Factory Stock A-Feature. After starting on the front row, he was able to cruise his way into victory lane. Garrison was challenged on several different occasions by 2nd place finisher Robert Scott, but was unable to complete the pass. Chris Bales finished 3rd, after climbing from his 7th place starting position. Jimmy Owens was the biggest mover of the race, coming from a 14th starting position to finishing fourth. Justin Green was able to finish in his 5th place starting position but was disqualified for not reporting to post-race inspection. That moved Mike Keever up to the 5th place finishing position after penalties were handed down.

There were 29 Sprint Cars signed in for Champ Sprint Competition, but Johnny Kent was the driver that came out victorious. After starting 8th on the grid, Kent found himself leading the race on lap 13. A mid-race yellow flag, bunched the field back up, and was able to motor his way to victory lane at the end of the 25-lap main event. Tenth place starter Mickey Walker worked his way to a 2nd place finish, after an eight lap battle with 3rd place finisher Alex DeCamp. Walker and DeCamp battled lap after lap, until Walker was able to capitalize in lap traffic to take the 2nd position from DeCamp. Brent Bates was able to salvage his 4th place finish, after gaining positions early on in the race, making it as high as 2nd, but dropped back as low as 5th. Bates was able to make a late-race pass on Brett Wilson to re-claim his fourth place starting spot, while Wilson held on 5th, after starting 12th. Biggest mover of the race was the 50Z of Zach Chappel, finishing in 6th, after starting 15th.

Chad Davis claimed the Modified feature event, winning 2 feature races in a row. Mike Duvall was off to a good start, after starting on the front row of the race, pulling to an early lead. Duvall found himself being challenged by Davis, who made quick work of Duvall to drive his machine to victory lane. Duvall held on, and challenged Davis on laps 7, 8, and 9, but was unable to reclaim his position. As Davis drove away from the field, Duvall settled for 2nd, while Ho Dean came across the line in 3rd. Davin Blake finished the race in fourth, after starting on the pole. Blake fell to 2nd after being overtaken by Duvall, and stayed there until Davis made his way through the field, in which then, he fell to 3rd. Dean made his challenge for position on lap 12, and was able to complete the pass on lap 13, falling Blake to fourth. Brandon Dean looked secure in fifth, but was challenged by Justin Cartwright on lap 14, and fell to sixth. Cartwright crossed the line at the checkered flag just inches ahead of B. Dean, finishing fifth.

Brent Bates played double duty this weekend, climbing out of his Champ Sprint Car after his fourth place finish, and climbing into his Dwarf Car entry to best the 17 car field. After starting on the front row of the Dwarf Car feature event, Bates was able to pull ahead of the field, starting second, and motored his way into victory lane. Rob McQuary, starting on the pole, lost his pole position start to Bates on lap 1, but was able to hold onto it at the end of the 20 lap feature event. Brian McClelland also played double duty climbing out of this Champ Sprint Car and climbing into his Dwarf Car, making a run from a 7th place starting position, to finishing 3rd. Larry Pence started fourth in line, and was able to fend off any challengers and finish in the same position. Jorge Chacon had a rough night, starting 9th. Chacon was involved in an opening lap crash, shuffling himself to the back of a lap 1 restart. Chacon fought tirelessly, making his way through lap traffic, and managing to secure a 5th place finish.

In Mini Stock racing action, Wesley Knebel raced his way into victory lane, after a hard fought battle, coming from a 8th place starting position. It was no easy feat for Knebel, battling his way into the top five. He hit 5th place on lap 8, which didn't leave much time for him to make it closer to the front. A mid race caution flag flew on lap 9, involving a car he was battling for position and lap traffic, moving him closer to that top spot. Knebel was able to capitalize on the lap 10 restart to make a pass on 3rd place runner Jimmy Masterson before another yellow came out for a car stopped on the track. Restarting in 3rd, Knebel found himself battling for 2nd place with Kimmy Tyre. Able to make the pass, Knebel set his sights on, and was able to make it up and challenge Jesse Hill, who led the entire race up to that point. Knebel made a pass through lap traffic to take the top spot from Hill, and raced on to win the feature event. Hill was challenged by Masterson, who couldn't complete the pass on Hill, and finished 2nd. Masterson, who started 7th was able to keep his 3rd place finishing spot, after fending off Tyre during the closing laps of the race. Kenny Grumadas fell one position from this fourth place starting spot to finish fifth.
