Walker, Wilson, Brewer, Wolfe, and Denton capture “Race for the Championship” opening wins.

Terry Mattox – SAPULPA, Okla. (July 13th, 2013) – Mickey Walker, Dena Wilson, Kevin Brewer, Bobby Wolfe, and Daniel Ray Denton capture the opening night wins of the “Race for the Championship” tonight at the Creek County Speedway.

Champ Sprints:

First up in the Champ Sprint division, Mickey Walker captured his first career Champ Sprint victory tonight at the “Quick Quarter.” 17 cars took the green flag in the nights 20 lap affair. Gramm and Larkin set the pace to the drop of the green flag. Walker raced out to the early race lead, leading wire-to-wire capturing the feature win. Ricky York ran in the second spot until lap 14, when Brian McClelland got around for the second spot and was in pursuit of Walker, but ran out of laps. Ricky York ended up in the third spot, Brent Bates, and Glen Passmore rounds out the top 5.

Modifieds:

Dena Wilson captured the nights “Mighty” Modified division’s 20 lap feature event tonight at “The Creek.” 11 cars were set to take the green flag, as Anthony Neel and Dena Wilson started on the front row leading the field to the green. Wilson jumped out the early race lead, leading to lap 15 as Ho Dean got a run at the leader. Deans lead was cut short as Dena Wilson was able to get around Dean to retain the race lead, and lead the remaining 4 laps of competition. Dean went on to finish in the second spot. Anthony Neel rounded out the podium. Richard Bias and Brett Wilson rounded out the top 5.

Factory Stocks:

Bobby Wolfe captured yet another “Fast & Furious” Factory Stock feature event win. Leland Bender and Toby Cooper sat on the front row of the 20 lap feature event. Cooper jumped out to the early race lead, and led the opening lap. Jimmy Owens got around Cooper to take the lead. Owens led three laps, and got passed Bobby Wolfe on lap 4. Wolfe went on to the lead the remaining 16 laps to capture the Factory Stock feature event. Point leader Josh Jefferies came home in second. Jimmy Owens rounded out the top 3, with Robert McClain and Dann Gray rounding out the top 5.

Dwarf Cars:

Kevin Brewer ran to victory in the “Down and Dirty” Dwarf Car division. Rick Cochran and Tanner Phillips earned the front row of the nights 20 lap feature. Phillips jumped out to the race lead and led the opening 3 laps. Kevin Brewer got around Phillips on lap 4 to take the lead away and lead the remaining 16 laps of competition. Phillips had problems on lap 14 which caused his night to end early and gave the second spot to Larry Pense, but coming to the checkered flag Record got around Pense to take the second spot. Pense fell back to third, Rick Quin and David Cummins rounded out the top 5.

Daniel Ray Denton survived the 20 lap “Survival of the Fittest” Mini Stock feature. Jimmy Masterson and Dee Denton started front row of the nights feature event. Daniel Ray Denton starting in the third spot raced out to the race lead and would lead wire-to-wire to capture the Mini Stock feature. Dee Denton would hold down the second spot. Jimmy Masterson fell to third, with Jonathan Fisher and Dale Wick rounding out the top 5 cars that survived the 20 lap feature event.
