Sooner Region on path to Creek and Lawton
Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (May 28, 2013) The American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region’s 2013 season has been one of variety thus far.
In five starts, five drivers have parked in victory lane starting with Seth Bergman at Creek County Speedway on April 19. Jonathan Cornell dominated events at the Springfield Raceway on April 20 with Mike Goodman topping Lawton Speedway on April 4.
The two most recent outings went to Matt Covington at the Thunderbird Speedway on May 17 with Danny Wood on top at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway on May 18.
Returning to the Creek County Speedway on Friday, May 31 and the Lawton Speedway on Saturday, June 1, the American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region will enter with Danny Wood atop the region’s standings.
Tightly grouped going into this weekend’s paring at Creek and Lawton, the top four driver for the American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region are separated by a slim 48 points with Mike Goodman, Matt Covington, and Jake Martens trailing the “Flying Fossil”
The Creek County Speedway will open gates at 4:30 P.M. (CDT) with races slated for 8:00 P.M. Fans are invited to attend a driver meet and greet starting at 4:00 P.M. Steak dinners will be offered to all who attend for only $7. The Friday card will also include the season opening for the new NOW600 Micro Sprint Car Series. The Lawton Speedway will see events getting underway at 8:00 P.M. (CDT) with gates opening at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1. The lineup of classes will include the USA Modified, Limited Modified, Factory Stocks. More information on the Lawton Speedway can be found at http://www.lawtonspeedway.com.
The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
