Wilson, Bates, Jefferies, Fisher, Phillips take home wins at Creek County Speedway

Terry Mattox – SAPULPA, Okla. (May 11th, 2013) – 61 drivers signed in to do battle at the Creek County Speedway tonight, following last week’s rain out.

The night started out with the Fast and Furious Factory Stock division, as nine drivers checked in to do battle at “The Creek.” Justin Green picked up the lone heat race for the Factory Stocks, Green also picked up the qualifier as well.

Before a lap could be completed in the A Main, Jimmy Owens spun out in turn 2, bringing out the caution flag. The field would have to double back up as a lap was not completed. The field would make it to lap 5, were we would find Justin Melton spun around. On the restart Bobby Wolfe would lead Justin Green and your current point leader in the Factory Stock division. On lap 8 and 9, Wolfe and Jefferies, would battle it out for the top spot, but Wolfe still had the advantage at the line. Jefferies took the lead on lap 16, and was lucky enough to lead a lap, as the yellow flag would come out again on lap 17 for debris. Jefferies would hold on to take his fifth feature event win of the season.

Factory Stock 'A' Feature (20 Laps): 1. 6P-Josh Jeffries; 2. 25-Justin Green; 3. 5W-Bobby Wolfe; 4. 1-Jimmy Owen; 5. 4BJR-Justin Melton; 6. 16-Cameron Butler; 7. 46-Roy East

Second up on the program was the mighty Modified division as Brett “The Jet” Wilson took home his fourth Feature event in the 2013 season.

The heat race went to Dena Wilson. In the 15 lap Modified feature, Shawn Rowell started on the pole with Mathew McBride to his outside leading the field to turn 4. Rowell would lead the opening lap of the 15 lap affair. On lap 2, Ho Dean would charge out to the front of the field, as McBride fell to the fifth spot. Coming to line on lap 6, Brett Wilson would get around Ho Dean to take command and would lead the rest of the way, at the Wilson would take the win, Dean, D. Wilson and McBride and Rowell would round out the field in the Modified feature event. Unfortunately Ben Frey would not be able to start the main event

Modified 'A' Feature (15 Laps): 1. 53-Brett Wilson; 2. 39-Ho Dean; 3. 54-Dena Wilson; 4. 11M-Mathew McBride; 5. 53B-Shawn Rowell; DNS 24F-Ben Frey.

In the always exciting Champ Sprint division, Brent Bates out duels Layne Himebaugh to pick up his third feature event win of the season.

16 cars would sign in to do battle at the tight little bullring. Himebaugh and Bates would take home heat race victories in the Champ Sprint division. At the start of the 20 lap feature event, veteran Len Larkin and rookie Christian York, would lead the field around to the drop of the green flag. York would take it out front for the first two laps, but York getting out of shape a little would allow Brent Bates to get around him on lap 3. Himebaugh got around York on the second spot on lap 3. Yellow came out on lap 9, as rookie Christian York, would spin around and bring out the caution. On the restart Bates would lead Himebaugh, Passmore, B. Frazier and Len Larkin your top 5. The race would go caution free after that point. Himebaugh would put up a vicious battle with Bates, but came up short at the line.

Champ Sprint 'A' Feature (20 Laps): 1. 17-Brent Bates; 2. 94L-Layne Himebaugh; 3. 69-Glen Passmore Jr; 4. 21-Billy Frazier; 5. 13-Len Larkin; 6. 11-Ricky York; 7. 00-Kacee Frazier; 8. 16-Robby Sherrell; 9. 2-Mickey Walker; 10. 51-Jackie York; 11. 18B-Eric Barnes; 12. 23A-Travis Ashwood; 13. 13W-Grant Wresche; 14. 18K-Rob Hooper; 15. 89-Christian York; 16. 3-Brian Gramm

Johnathon Fisher, charges to his first win of the season in the Mini Stock division on Saturday night.

Daniel Ray Denton and Jerad Traster would pick up heat race wins. 17 cars were set to take the green flag, but as the green flag dropped, the cars dropped like flies. Fisher would earn the pole position, as Donnie Rodman would elect to go tail back. On the start Fisher would take it to the front as Jerad Traster would follow. Yellow would come out fast, as one lap would be completed. Fisher, Jerad Traster and Sean Cusac would round out the top 3 cars. Two laps would be completed as Dearl Harrison would bring out the caution flag on lap 3. On the restart Fisher would still lead Traster and Cusac. We would make it another lap before yet another caution flag would come out on lap 5, as Toby Cooper would spin around. Restart on lap 5 would find Fisher still in command, with Traster and McSperritt rounding out the top 3. After the lap 5 restart the cars started dropping, starting with 17 cars, by lap 10 only 5 cars would remain on the racing surface. The race would continue on after a lap 9 restart, with Johnathon Fisher coming out on top, Sean Cusac, and Kevin McSperritt rounding out the remaining cars at the end of the 20 lap feature event.

Mini Stock 'A' Feature (20 Laps): 1. 816-Johnathon Fisher; 2. 07-Sean Cusac; 3. 44-Daniel Ray Denton; 4. 88-kevin Mcsperritt JR; 5. 57-Evan Smith; 6. 15-Bobby Traster; 7. 3-Joe Benedict; 8. 754-Michael Rodman; 9. 2-Jerad Traster; 10. 7JR-Donnie Rodman; 11. 24-Justin Cartwright; 12. 03-Toby Cooper; 13. 12-Dearl Harrison; DNS 8-Travis Knox; DNS 62-Anthony Peterson; DNS 4-Dee Denton; DNS 54-Dustin Westin.

The final race of the night was the down and dirty Dwarf Car division, were Larry Pense would park it back in CCS victory lane for the fifth time this season.

Heat races went to Rob McQuary and Larry Pense. At the start of the 20 lap Dwarf Car feature, outside starter Rob McQuary would charge to the race lead, and would lead until lap 12, as Larry Pense would be able to get around McQuary and lead the remaining 8 laps of the 20 lap affair. A hard charging Dustin Dixon would make it up to the fourth spot, but battery failure on lap 12 would end his night. Lap 14 Kent Kantor would be able to get around McQuary for the second spot, but spinning into the infield on lap 19, one lap away from the checkered flag, the caution flag would come back out for the final time of the night. On the restart Pense would lead, with McQuary and Record rounding out the top 3 drivers. Pense would race on to pick up his fifth feature event of the season. McQuary, Record, Cochran and Bagby rounding out the top 5.
