Jones Sweeps MARA Field at Lincoln

Lincoln, Illinois (July 12, 2024) - Parker Jones conquered the Midget Auto Racing Association field at Lincoln Speedway Friday night earning his second victory of the season. Jones swept the night earning fast time, a heat race win, and the feature event.

Twenty-one MARA Midgets signed in to do battle on the evening setting up for three heat races. Heat 1 looked like it would go to Mark McMahill until a late-race mechanical issue caused him to stop on track. Patrick Bruns inherited the lead and cruised to the win over RJ Corson and Charles Kunz.

Heat 2 action saw a hard-charging Luck Wackerlin take the win from his sixth starting position running the cushion. Gedd Ross finished second ahead of Alex Midkiff.

Heat 3 was won by Jones who also started from the sixth position. Following him to the line were Mario Clouser and Jace Sparks.

The main event of the evening started off with Clouser on the pole and RJ Corson to his outside. When the green flag fell the two raced hard to see who would lead lap one. Clouser took the advantage and would lead the early going. Jones worked his way into third by the end of lap three. One lap later he passed Corson for second and set his sights on Clouser. At the start of lap seven, Jones closed in on Clouser. Using the cushion to his advantage, Jones dove under Clouser off of turn two and the pair went into turn three side by side with Jones sliding in front of Clouser on the exit of turn four. From there Jones would survive two cautions to take the win over Clouser, Midkiff, Ross, and Daltyn England rounding out the top five.
