Weekly Racing Starts With a Family Feud

Following a family feud, Genoa City's Nick Simons was joined by his mom, Terry Simons, in victory lane after scoring the initial 20-lap Modified feature win of the 2022 season opener at Wilmot Raceway on Mother's Day Weekend.
Nick Simons crew feverishly worked on the car after a smoking problem in the heat race, which he still won. N. Simons took the lead from Waterford's Mike Wittenburg following a lap 7 caution with Nick's older brother, Mike Simons, also of Genoa City, in close toe. The two Simons brothers battled side by side a couple of times during the final circuits, but the younger Nick was up to the challenge scoring the checkered flag. M. Simons took second. Eagle's Steve Mueller third. Milwaukee's David Wirth fourth. New Berlin's Brad McGuire recovered from a early race caution incident to take fifth.
Jimmy Sivia of Winthrop Harbor, IL scored a clean sweep in the AutoMeter/Brewington Electric Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints, posting fast time out of the 40-car field, winning a heat race and the 20-lap feature.
On a restart following a caution on lap 7, Sivia went from third to first using the high groove pulling away to the win. Tim Cox of Park City, IL finished second. Clayton Rossmann of Wadsworth, IL third. Early race leader Ryan Zielski of Oconomowoc fourth. Kansasville's Ryan Marshall fifth.
Kenosha's Blake Kreuser broke a feature winless streak by taking top honors in the 20-lap street stock main. Kreuser overtook Rob Maule of Hebron in the final half of the feature for the win. Maule ended up second. Pleasant Prairie's Josh Gehrig third. Salem's James Jaime fourth. Cody Erickson of Algonquin, IL fifth.
South Milwaukee's Jacob Balk won his first Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Car feature at Wilmot in over two years taking the 20-lap season opener leading flag to flag. John Cole of McHenry, IL was second. Salem's Chris Abel third. Elkhorn's Micah Belling fourth. Salem's Ryan Johnson fifth.
Wilmot Raceway returns to action with a special Sunday, May 15 program featuring the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour in the Diamond Jim 44 in the memory of Diamond Jim.
WingLESS Sprints, Pfiefer Trailer Sales IRA Lightning Sprints and Modifieds are on the card as well.
Grandstands open at 4 p.m. for the Sunday special with races slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m. Pits will open at 2 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $25.00 for ages 12 and over. Ages 7-11 are $5.00, 6 & under admitted free. Pit passes are $30.00.
The next week features a Friday special on May 20 with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association(IRA) Outlaw Sprint Cars and the All Star Circuit of Champions in the 410 Winged Sprint Car Challenge. WingLESS Sprints and Lightning Sprints are on the all sprint car event.
