Tony Stewart Racing at Wilmot THIS FRIDAY

The Kenosha County Fair's Wilmot Raceway will have 3-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart racing there this Friday night, August 30th. Stewart, who was recently elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, has a passion for Sprint Car racing. He has his own Sprint Car team and will be running his own car this Friday in competition with the Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series. Wilmot Raceway has attempted to get Stewart to their track on several occasions the past few years, though without any luck. Stewart broke his leg just twelve days prior to one scheduled race at at Wilmot, and then rain has forced cancellation of both May events the past two years. This Friday's event was added to the schedule to accomodate Stewart's schedule, and give the IRA series a make up date at the third-mile dirt oval. "All systems are go for this Friday", stated IRA President and Wilmot Race Director Steve Sinclair. "It's quite an honor to have a racing legend like Tony Stewart racing with us. His love for the sport, particularly Sprint Cars, makes him a fan favorite anywhere he races." Stewart retired from full time NASCAR competition following the 2017 season, but continues to race Sprint Cars on a regular basis, as his 2019 Sprint Car schedule includes over ninety events. Smoke, as he is known throughout the racing community, will be at Wilmot Raceway this Friday, and will follow the IRA to an event at the Sheboygan County Fair on Saturday before flying back to a NASCAR event in Darlington, SC Sunday where he is a special guest. Stewart continues to own several NASCAR teams under the Stewart - Haas Racing banner and has drivers such as Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola, and Daniel Suarez driving for the team. Stewart also owns the World of Outlaws Sprint Car team of multi-time champion Donny Schatz, who won that series event at Wilmot back in July. "Tony has had tremendous success at the top tiers of our sport, such as in NASCAR and Indy Car" added Sinclair, "but he never forgot the route that took him there. He gives so much back to the sport and visits to places like Wilmot benefit grass roots racing across the country."

Tickets are General Admission. Grandstand gates open at 5pm, with warm ups slated for 6pm followed by qualifying, and racing to follow. Wilmot Raceway is located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot. See www.wilmotraceway.com for more information.
