Tony Stewart Sprint Challenge August 30th at Wilmot Raceway
(Wilmot, Wis., Saturday)--Three-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart of Columbus, Indiana, recently announced member of the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class, is coming to Wilmot Raceway Friday, August 30.
The Tony Stewart Spring Car Challenge will feature the first time Stewart will compete in a winged outlaw sprint car at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval original home of sprint car racing in Wisconsin.
Stewart will lead a contingent of winged warriors taking on the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA) Sprint Car Series competitors on their Kenosha County Fair facility where the series began 52 years ago.
"We are excited we were able to work things out and get "Smoke" to come to Wilmot," said Steve Sinclair, IRA president and Wilmot Raceway race director.
Stewart, who owns a NASCAR team, Eldora Speedway in Ohio, and a traveling sprint series himself, has competed at Wilmot several years ago in a non-wing USAC sprint car, the same year he was Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Race. This will be the first time the 3-time ESPY Best Driver Award Recipient will take to Wilmot's new configuration compared to when he was there in the summer of 1996.
On the all sprint car program will be the AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLess Sprints and the IRA Lightning Sprints.
Advance ticket information will be announced.
Wilmot Raceway is located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot, Wisconsin. For updates check the track website wilmotraceway.com, track side race line 262-862-2090 or official Wilmot Raceway Facebook Page
