Mattson Scores wingLESS win at Pepsi Nationals

25 Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series presented by the IRA drivers signed in to compete at the historic Angell Park Speedway for one of their crown jewel events, The Pepsi Nationals. Qualifying saw Minnesota native Jimmy Kouba set quick time. Point leader Jordan Mattson was 2nd quick over Derek Crane in 3rd. 2 time Badger Micro champion Chad Bogar and former Badger Midget regular Doug Schenck rounded out the top 5.

Heat Race 1 saw pole sitter Jimmy Sivia lead all 8 laps en route to victory over Nathan Crane and Jimmy Kouba. George Gaertner Jr. brought his 89 machine across in 4th and Bogar was 5th.
Heat Race 2 saw Tim Cox take the early lead but Jordan Mattson would drive from 4th to take the lead with just a handful of laps to go. On the last lap Schenck would steal 2nd away from Cox who would be forced to settle for 3rd. Rod Colburn came home in 4th ahead of George Gaertner III.
In Heat Race 3 Jake Kouba would utilize his front row starting spot to take the early lead and eventually the win. Behind him Allen Hafford would come across in 2nd followed by Craig Campton. Derek Crane brought his Peapod car home 4th and Ryan Zelski was 5th.

The B main saw James Walden, nephew of 2 time Badger Midget Champion and long time IRA competitor Bob Walden, lead all 10 laps in route to victory. A late race charge saw Chris Klemko claim 2nd place ahead of Randy Stanford. Jeremy Hunt would finish in 4th and Dan Wade would claim the 5th and final transfer spot to the A Main.

In the A Main, Doug Schenck took the early lead but with just 6 laps to go Mattson would pass Schenck. When the checkered flag fell Mattson was victorious over Tim Cox and Doug Schenck, who despite years of trying across multiple divisions, has been unable to claim a victory at the historic track. Chris Klemko drove from his 17th starting position to a 4th place finish and Jimmy Kouba brought his 2k machine home in 5th.
