Chad Becker earns pole for 92-lap, $9,200-to-win Seitz Memorial feature

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 6, 2024) – The 18th annual John Seitz Memorial continued on Friday night with 196 cars among five divisions, including 62 Late Models, checked in for action.

Qualifying prelims for the Late Model portion of the John Seitz Memorial began with seven 15-lap heat races, which were won by Michael Greseth, AJ Diemel, Cole Searing, Nick Panitzke, Dustin Strand, Aaron Turnbull and Scott Ward.

The 15-lap Go Hard or Go Home pole dash was led to green by Greseth and Chad Becker with Becker leading the open circuit. Greseth battled side by side with Becker for the first few circuits until Becker cleared for the lead and began to pull away.

Greseth then had to fend off challenges from Aaron Turnbull and Dustin Strand as Becker drove away to a 2.8 second advantage and the win. Greseth finished second to earn a front row starting spot alongside Becker for tomorrow night’s $9,200-to-win Seitz Memorial main event. Turnbull and Strand finished third and fourth, respectively, and will make up the second row.

Tyler Peterson came from ninth to score the Big Al Delaine Memorial feature win in the WISSOTA Modifieds. Peterson took advantage of a few early race cautions to move up to the second position by lap four. From there he stalked the No. 6 of Dale Ames. Both front runners ran the low side of the speedway until Ames’ car pushed in turn two opening the door for Peterson.

Peterson never hesitated as he took the point and went on to lead the final 29 laps. Dustin Strand drove from seventh to second as Ames, Blake Jegtivg and Kevin Adams completed the top five.

Jordan Henkemeyer led wire-to-wire to win the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. The win was Henkemeyer’s first of his career at River Cities Speedway. The driver out of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, who currently sits seventh in the WISSOTA National Super Stock point standings, took the win by just under a second over Dave Mass. Trevor Nelson, Terran Spacek, and Jeremy North rounded out the top five.
