Speedway Crowns 2014 Champions; Williams crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

2014 Champions (L to R) Brian Bradley, Matt Quade, Justin Williams, Bobby Thompson, Brett AdkinsJamaica, VA - Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2014 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2014 champions. During the night’s events almost $38,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $32,000 was in cash.

Justin Williams of Shipman, VA was crowned the 2014 Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket.

Bobby Thompson of Concord, VA was crowned the very first Aaron’s Pro Late Model Champion. Thompson received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket.

Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA was crowned the 2014 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Adkins also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket.

Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD was crowned the 2014 Budweiser Modified Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Quade also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket.

Brain Bradley of Hopewell, VA won the Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship. It was his career first championship. Bradley received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket.

The speedway also crowned an overall Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion which pits all five divisions against each other and in the closest battle in the nine year history of the championship Victory Lap Late Model Champion Justin Williams of Shipman, VA beat out Budweiser Modified Champion Matt Quade by 1 point to take the overall championship and the $2000 check and special eagle trophy that goes along with it.

Special achievement award winners for the 2014 season included: The Pitts Lumber Rookies of the Year were Petie Coffey of Waynesboro, VA in Victory Lap Late Models; Bobby Thompson of Concord, VA in the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division; Jeremiah Marshall of Stuarts Draft, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Stephen Quade of Mechanicsville, MD in Budweiser Modifieds and Andrew Tarbox of King William, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250.
