4 Nights at Kokomo Next for Sprints, August 26-29

DARLAND (#100), BACON & BALLOU GRAB WISCONSIN WINS

Four nights of racing at Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway loom next for USAC’s AMSOIL Sprint Car series, with races August 26-29 at the quarter-mile dirt oval.

The Stoops Freightliner “Sprint Car Smackdown IV” unfolds August 27-29 but not until participants complete a suspended event from July 13 on August 26. The semi and feature remain to be contested from the event which suffered a rain interruption during Indiana Sprint Week.

Robert Ballou of Rocklin, Calif. continues atop the series standings after winning Sunday night’s 30-lap race at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. The race was the third in three nights in the state of Wisconsin for the series and extended Ballou’s point lead over Chase Stockon and Dave Darland to 93 and 94 points respectively.

Ballou passed C.J. Leary on lap 18 and led the rest of the way at Sun Prairie in his MPHG Promotions/Blakesley’s Auto/TwisterX Maxim/Ott. Brady Bacon was second ahead of Leary, Stockon and Darland. The win was Ballou’s eighth of the season.

Bacon passed Ballou on lap 24 and led the final seven laps to win Saturday night’s 30-lapper at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisc. The win was the 91st for the Dynamics, Inc. Mean Green team as their Triple X/Williams Mopar was trailed by Ballou, Chris Windom, Justin Grant and Darland.

Darland earned his 100th USAC National feature victory Friday night at AMSOIL Speedway in Superior, Wisc., leading the final 17 laps after passing Ballou on lap 14 in his Phillips/Curb Agajanian Trench Shoring DRC/Foxco. Ballou took second ahead of Stockon, Bill Balog and Leary.

Ballou, Stockon and Kevin Thomas Jr. earned ProSource fast qualifying bonuses during the three-race swing.
