Welcome to Night #2 of the 20th Annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals Presented by Your Life Iowa! The best in late model racing try to better the points night they had Thursday to start as best they can for Saturday's $50,000 to win finale. Bobby Pierce topped Thursday's total with 498 points.

Jake Masters is quickest at 23.915 seconds...

Late model Qualifying (2 groups) is up next....200 pts for quick time, 198 pts for 2nd quick, 196 pts for 3rd quick and so on...The first group will make up heats one and two, the second group comprises three and four...

Max Blair is quickest in the first group with a lap of 18.355 seconds...

Garrett Alberson sets quick time in group two with a 18.523 second lap...

Barribo leads Grabouski, Hrejsi, Woken and Brandies...Grabouski takes the lead on lap three...Woken to 3rd...Masters is up to 5th...Masters now takes fourth....Grabouski will win it...

Heat two

Murty leads Spaw, Shryock, Ware and Vanover...Shryock now second and challenging Murty...he's got the lead on lap three...Brauner is 5th...Shryock will win it...

Heat three

Frye leads Vis, Allen Dennis and Hidlebaugh...Dennis takes third from Allen...Leiting into the top five...Frye will win it...

Late Model Heats

Heats are 12 laps, have an invert of six, and take the top five to the feature...100 pts for the heat win, 97 pts for 2nd, 94 pts for 3rd and so on....

Heat one

Shirley leads early over O'Neal, Shepard, Gustin and Davenport...now Davenport shoots by Gustin on the low side...Troutman knocking on Gustin's door fo rthe final transfer and he has it! Davenport by O'Neal for third, as Sheppard has moved into 2nd...Blair reelin in Troutman now...Blair has the fifth and final trnasfer, but Troutman is not going away....Troutman gaining on Blair on the high side now...Shirley will win this one...Blair holds onto the final transfer...

Heat two

McCreadie leads Ferguson, Wilson, Thornton and Bruening....Moran now by Bruening for the 5th and final transfer....Moran is under Thornton for 4th...Chris Simpson now on RTJ for the final transfer and he's got it...Wilson by Ferguson for 2nd...Moran now by Ferguson for 3rd...Chris Simpson by Ferguson for 4th...McCreadie wins it going away...

Heat three

Junghans lead early over Briggs, Alberson, Robinson and Owens...Owens into the turn one wall...caution...Hilsabeck into the work area...11 to go, Junghans leads Briggs, Alberson, Robinson, Chad Simpson, Furman, Zeitner and Coover...Hilsabeck rejoins the tail of the field...Alberson to 2nd, Chad Simpson to third and Zeitner into a transfer spot on teh restart...Robinson challengin for the final transfer, and we have a caution...Briggs stops against the wall in turn four and backs it into the pits...8 to go, Junghans leads Alberson, Chad Simpson, Zeitner, Robinson, Furman, Hilsabeck and Coover....Chad Simpson to 2nd, Robinson to 4th and Hilsabeck into the final transfer on the restart...now Zeitner is trying to battle back by Hilsabeck...Junghans wins it...

Heat four

Marlar leads McCowan, B Smith, G Smith and Nothduft...Nothdurft to 4th and Bobby Pierece into a transfer on lap two...Pierce is now up to 4th and G Smith by Nothdurft for the final transfer spot....Pierce now is 3rd, B Smith and G Smith rounding out the top five....B Smith now challenging Pierce for 3rd...Marlar wins his heat for the 2nd night in a row...

Battaglia will not start...Bruening leads Troutman, Thornton, Gustin and Erb...Troutman to the lead on lap three, RTJ challenging Bruening for the final transfer...he has it on lap four...Gustin slows and we have caution...5 to go, Troutman leads Thornton, Bruening, Erb, Harris, Humphrey...Troutman and Thornton will move on...

Zeitner leads early over Nothdurft, Furman, Marrant and Briggs...Briggs gets sideways heading into one and collects Coover....9 to go, Zeitner, Nothdurft, Furman, Marrant, Coover, Sillman, Lawler...Briggs is off...Furman into the 2nd and final transfer on the restart....Nothdurft reeling Furman back in...Zeitner and Furman will mvoe on...

Dennis leads Grabouski and Brauner early...caution three laps in for Murty and Leiting...17 to go...Brauner to 2nd on the restart, Shryock into 5th...Schryock by Frye for third on lap 5...Shryock by Brauner for 2nd on lap 6...Shryock under Dennis for the lead on lap 7, Brauner to 2nd...Spaw to 3rd...Grabouski by Spaw for third on lap 12...caution for debris....8 to go, Shryock leads Brauner, Grabouski, Spaw and Dennis....Spaw back to thrid on the restart...Frye to 5th...Spaw back to 3rd on the restart...Grabouski back by for 3rd in a good battle with 6 to go...Shryock wins it!

Wilson leads lap one over Pierce and Moran...Pierce to the lead on lap 2, Blair by Hilsabeck for 4th...Moran by Wilson for 2nd on lap 5... Blair to 3rd on lap 7...Wilson is high around Blair for third on lap 8...Blair rebounds from fourth to second on lap 9...Sheppard in the top five...3.9 second lead for Pierce on lap 10...Sheppard from fifth to third on lap 11...Pierce's lead down to 1.2 seconds on lap 15....Blair eeks by Pierce for the lead on lap 17...Blair gets up out of the rubber on the low side and Pierce gets back by to lead lap 18...Pierce wins it for his second career score here!
