Knoxville Nationals brings Clanton to Iowa
On Monday afternoon, Shane Clanton made a mid-week stop at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America. Drawing 31 Late Models for the second annual One for the Road, Shane’s 10-lap heat race victory positioned him second on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win A-Main. For the remainder of the weekend, Clanton headed Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) on Thursday afternoon to lift the lid on the 17th annual Knoxville Nationals presented by Brandt. In a field of 48 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Shane recorded a fourth-place finish in his heat before picking up a 15-lap consolation victory. Improving five spots in the 25-lap preliminary feature, Clanton recorded a 15th-place outing.
The following night, Clanton secured his spot into the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature with a 12-lap heat race win. Clawing forward three spots in the 25-lap affair, Shane posted a 13th-place finish.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday pinning Shane 21st on the starting grid for the $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals, Clanton gained five positions in the 100-lapper to place 16th.
Shane is currently ninth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
