Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 15, 2016) – Big Game Motorsports driver Danny Lasoski advanced into his 26th career Knoxville Nationals A Main last weekend during the sport’s premier event at Knoxville Raceway.

Although the Muddy backed team didn’t end with a win, Lasoski became only the third driver in the history of the prestigious event to surpass the 25-start mark when he placed 13th on Saturday to cap the 56th annual 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals.

“We are all about winning and unfortunately we didn’t get that done,” he said. “It was a trying week for us, but I know the guys are already working hard to put us in contention next year.”

The event began for Lasoski last Thursday during preliminary action, which started with the Muddy sponsored team qualifying 19th quickest. Lasoski lined up fifth in a heat race and battled for the final lock-in position to the main event until the checkered flag. His fifth-place result relegated him to the B Main.

Had Lasoski advanced one more position in the heat race he would have started the main event on the outside of the front row. Instead, he lined up on the inside of the seventh row of the B Main. Lasoski charged from 13th to fifth, but once again came up one spot shy of transferring into the main event.

He returned to the half-mile oval on Friday and promptly took advantage of the second opportunity. Lasoski qualified fourth quickest in his group before he finished second in a heat race to lock into the sixth starting position for the main event. He then maneuvered into a third-place result in the main event to garner one of the four lock-in positions to Saturday’s A Main.

“The Friday format gives you an extra opportunity to get yourself locked in,” he said. “We had an efficient night to achieve that goal. Guy Forbrook and the guys gave me a great car and we got the job done.”

The podium finished marked the 20th top five of the season for the Muddy backed team, which lined Lasoski up on the inside of the 10th row for Saturday’s $150,000-to-win main event.

Lasoski quickly charged into the top 10 by Lap 15. He then spent the remainder of the 50-lap feature battling just outside the top 10 before he ended 13th.

“It’s a tough task to charge from 19th to win and it doesn’t happen very often,” he said. “We were really strong early, but struggled throughout the second half of the race.”

The Muddy sponsored team will take this weekend off before returning to National Sprint League competition on Aug. 27 at Knoxville Raceway.
