Mark Dobmeier – 100th Career Win at River Cities Speedway!

Lunstra Motorsports and Mark Dobmeier PR

August 30, 2013- Mark Dobmeier aboard his potent Lunstra Motorsports No. 13 turned around their luck and had a weekend to remember which was started off by Mark’s 100th feature win at his hometown track, River Cities Speedway. He followed that up with a couple of more top fives at the Knoxville Raceway and the Huset’s Speedway.

Last Friday started off for the Senske & Son Transfer Eagle by winning their heat race from the fourth starting spot at River Cities. The luck of the draw put “Dynamite” on the front row for the Season Championship feature. The feature was plagued by cautions throughout, but it did not phase the track’s all-time feature leader from capturing the monumental win. The win was his 14th overall on the year and fifth of the year at the track.

“A couple of weeks ago people were telling me we were at 99 (wins),” Dobmeier admitted. “I’m not the type of guy that keeps track of wins or stats like that, but this is still pretty cool. I’ve had so many people to help me get to this point and to win 100 times is mind blowing. From my sponsors, to my crew, to the fans and most thankfully my family, this is pretty awesome to accomplish. I never would have thought when we started that this could occur. Thank you to everybody that had a hand in this.”

It was off to Knoxville for one final trip to the historic half-mile in southern Iowa for their Season Championship finale. After qualifying seventh out of the 32 cars signed in, Mark would finish second after starting fourth in his heat race. That would line the team up to start outside row two for the feature aboard the Big Trucks by Jimco car.

Dobmeier would swap the lead in the early laps with Josh Schneiderman and finally took the point on lap five. He would keep a comfortable lead on the abnormally tacky track, but cautions continued to bunch the field together. With seven laps to go, Danny Lasoski would get under Dobmeier in the 25 lap feature. Lasoski would also capture his 100th career win at Knoxville on back-to-back nights. Dobmeier would get edged out by .006 seconds for the second spot by Davey Heskin.

“We had the car going really well early on in the feature,” Dobmeier said. “I feel like we kept losing our momentum, and subsequently our leads, when the cautions kept coming out. Danny was better than us after getting jumbled back up and congrats to him on his big win a night after we did ours in Grand Forks. It was still a good way to end the year at Knoxville on a positive note.”

The weekend ended at Huset’s where 17 cars signed in for the evening’s action. Dobmeier and his Sioux Falls Ford team qualified fourth quick and would finish third in the heat after starting fifth. After an invert of ten was drawn for the feature, Mark would start seventh on the grid for the 25 lap feature on the bullring.

Eventually, the race would go non-stop and the Dammer Trucking sponsored car would wind up fourth at the checkers, but it wasn’t without a little drama. Early in the race, Mark had his hands full with a near wreck in turn one. He had two wheels off the ground after jumping the heavy cushion but was able to save it without getting in the wall. However, he did lose a couple of spots and a couple of seconds on the field.

“I think we could have had something for (eventual winner and runner-up) Jody (Rosenboom) and Terry (McCarl) had we not have jumped the cushion. I was just happy not to wreck the car, and we still were able to make our way forward. We’ll be ready to go for the special $5,000 to win show on Sunday thanks to Bolte’s.”

The upcoming weekend will find the Lunstra Motorsports team at the Jackson Speedway on Friday and Saturday for the Jackson Nationals under the sanction of the ASCS National Series. The weekend will wrap-up for the special purse at Huset’s on Sunday with the 410 under the hood.

“The races at Jackson would not be able to happen to help without Ryan and the Grinch Motorsports team,” Mark said. “A big thank you goes out to him and we all hope he continues to feel better as well.”
