Beaver Dam Victory and Knoxville Preparations

Bristol, WI – August 6, 2013. Bill and the B2 Motorsports team made the short jaunt up to the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI this past Saturday where Bill has won three out of the five visits to the track in 2013. Bill would lay down the fastest lap of the thirty-three cars on hand and set himself up with a 6th place starting position in the first heat race. Bill would make his way into the 3rd position on the start, but quickly made his way past the #11K of Rick Kelsey and began to track down leader Wayne Modjeski. Bill caught the #14AJ machine trying to make his way past and finally did when he dove under him in turns one and two and cruised on to his 10th heat race victory of 2013. Bill would pull the #3 pill for the feature invert setting him up with another 6th place starting position. At the drop of the green Bill made his way into the 4th position trailing the duo of Travis Whitney and Steve Meyer. As the two battle Bill would following waiting for a chance to sneak by. Around lap ten, Bill saw and opportunity and threaded the needle as he would drive between the two sprint cars and set chase of the #02 of Mike Reinke. Bill nipped into Reinke’s lead every lap and soon was at his back bumper waiting at his chance to get past. On lap twenty, a lapper would spin in turn two as the leaders hauled into turn one. The #02 would make a drastic turn to the right to avoid the spun car, but would make incidental contact with Bill sending the yellow sprinter into a roll and handing the lead to the #17B machine. After the mess was cleaned up racing would resume as Bill would set sail unchallenged to pick up his 11th victory of the 2013 season over Mike Kertscher and Steve Meyer and 3rd clean sweep of the season.

The team headed down to Knoxville, IA on Sunday night to the Knoxville Raceway for the 2nd Annual Capitani Classic for some last chance preparations for the Knoxville Nationals. Eighty-two cars were on hand and Bill would be the 54th fastest qualifier setting him up with an 11th place starting position in the first heat race. Bill would come out of the heat race with a 12th place finish sending him to the first of two B-mains. Lining up in the 15th position, Bill got shuffled on the first start and slid back to 20th before he began to gain some ground back as he made his way back to finish in the 11th position.
