LASOSKI CLAIMS WIN NO. 7 AND EXTENDS KNOXVILLE ADVANTAGE

Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (June 20) – He doesn’t like to sit around and watch TV much. And with a race four hours away, Danny Lasoski decided to load back up and head West on Sunday.

“There was nothing better to do,” he said. “Even on Father’s Day I want to race.”

Good thing, too, because the Dover, Mo., native picked up his seventh overall win of the season and second of the year at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., with the NCRA.

Lasoski drove from last – seventh – to second in his heat race, which gave him the most points. That earned him the pole for the feature and he led the entire race on the semi-banked, 3/8th-mile dirt oval.

“I just took care of my tires like last time,” he said. “I didn’t hear anyone behind me except during cautions.”

It capped another solid weekend for the veteran, who finished second the night before at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

After qualifying first and driving from sixth to second in his heat race, Lasoski and the other top nine drivers had a blind draw to line up the first five rows of Saturday’s feature. Each driver pulled a number and gave it to another driver.

“I drew the No. 2 and gave it to Ryan Roberts,” Lasoski said. “Dusty Zomer drew a 10 and gave it to me.”

Lasoski made quick work of getting to the front and when leader Wayne Johnson had an issue in the closing laps, Lasoski was there to capitalize. However, Zomer was just a bit quicker and held off the veteran for the win.

Lasoski remains the 410 class point’s leader, with a 106-point advantage at the midpoint of the season.

“I’m just really proud of our team,” he said. “Todd Creason and Tony Ross make it so we can get to each race and the crew guys work really hard. Being out of our pocket with virtually no financial help, it’s a great feeling to have been so successful at Knoxville this season.”

Lasoski started the weekend on Friday with a sixth-place finish at the fast U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo., at the ASCS Midwest vs. Warrior Region showdown. After finishing second in his heat race, Lasoski missed the redraw by one position.

“You just run around the track wide open,” said Lasoski, who started ninth. “The race track was just too good. For a 360 engine, you gotta have it a little slicker.”

Lasoski will race on Friday either at Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., or at L A Raceway in La Monte, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region. He’s scheduled to compete on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway and Sunday with the World of Outlaws at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D.
