Jennerstown Speedway Complex Finale Includes Bonus Race Events – Biggest Modified Race of The Year Saturday!
(September 6, 2017) The final race of the 2017 season at the Jennerstown Speedway Complex includes several enhancements to the agenda, for this Saturday night. All five divisions of stock cars will compete, but for the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified division, a 35-lap event awarding over $1,700 in additional prize money, earn this week’s race the title of “Biggest Modified Event of the Year.” After the races, the final round of the Ron’s Collision Center Enduro will take place, known as “The Shane Shaffer 75.” Also added to the agenda, are two “Non-Winner Shootouts,” that will insure a first-time visitor to “victory lane” in both the Farmers Union Co-op Charger division, and the Somerset Trust Co. Fast ‘n Furious 4-Cylinder division. Additionally, players from the Johnstown Tomahawks will greet race fans, making it “A Hockey Night in Jennerstown,” on September 9th. All of these added attractions will be presented at regular ticket price!
The 2017 Champions will be honored in all five divisions of racing, with the season-long Championship point standings now concluded. This final event is a “non-points” race, with preliminary heat races and feature races for the Martella’s Pharmacies Late Models, Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds, J&J Truck Equipment Street Stocks, Farmers Union Co-Op Chargers, and Somerset Trust Company Fast ‘n Furious 4-Cylinders. The Modifieds, which typically compete in a 20-lap feature race, will go 35 laps around the paved half-mile oval, with a significant increase in pay awaiting the competitors. After the standard 20-lap distance, a five minute break will allow the Modified pit crews to add fuel and make tire pressure adjustments, for the final 15-lap dash to the checkered flag. The first driver across the finish line, will become the historic winner of the first annual “Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified Challenge.”
With a large number of rookie drivers in the Farmers Union Co-op Chargers and Somerset Trust Company Fast ‘n Furious 4-Cylinders during 2017, many competitors have yet to conquer their veteran challengers. So, each division’s “non-winners,” will race among one another, guaranteeing that race fans will get to welcome two first-time visitors to Jennerstown Speedway victory lane. Each division’s eligible drivers will race eight laps in these special, brief, “shoot outs” on Saturday night.
When the five division racing has concluded, the Ron’s Collision Center Enduro Series will close out 2017 with the “Shane Shaffer 75.” The event is a 75-lap contest that has been rescheduled twice, due to rain. From a standing start, the cars will launch through a course that will include on-track obstacles, for the first time. Drivers will need to steer left and right to avoid contact with the obstacles, and one another, as the most recent Enduro boasted a strong field of 36 cars. Thanks to Ron’s Collision Center, a season Champion will be crowned for the first time in Jennerstown Enduro history, after the race.
As racing season will be ending Saturday night, area sports fans are ready to shift their attention to the ice rink. Players from the 2017-2018 roster of the Johnstown Tomahawks will be greeting the race fans when gates open at 4pm. Team members will be the “guests of honor” and participate in Opening Ceremonies, just before the start of racing at 6pm.
