MLDS Set for Mid-Week Maquoketa and Angell Park Return
West Allis, WI (July 22rd, 2024) - The Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct is set for a big week with two marquee races on the docket. First, a mid-week tussle at Maquoketa Speedway in Iowa will see the series return for the second time this season. Secondly, the series will make its long awaited second trip to Sun Prairie's Angell Park Speedway, the track that started it all for the MLDS.
Maquoketa Speedway saw Ryan Sullivan pick up his first feature win of the season earlier in the year, with the driver of the #2.0 looking to go two for two at the track. Kasey Korsmo picked up his first feature win on the dirt this previous Saturday at the track. $400 is on the line for whoever picks up the win, with an extra $1,000 put in by Legends.Direct to spread among the field. The event will also act as a regional qualifier event so you never know who may show up. Fans are encouraged to check out the Jackson County Fair before the night kicks off.
Sunday, Angell Park Speedway will set the stage for a great race and even better night. The track which started the season off is set to bring some good racing, with everyone chasing Jackson Lewis, who picked up the first win of the season at the track and has dominated the season thus far. The track will be having its BMARA Racers Reunion during the day and everyone is welcome.
Going into the weekend Jackson Lewis continues to lead the way in the point standings. Jordan Miklas still holds second with Ryan Sullivan firmly in third. Hayden Schmuhl continues his pursuit of the top three in fourth while Michael Weber has to look out in fifth as he is under an immense amount of pressure from behind on 485 points. Charlie Spoonmore and Dallas Ross are tied on 482 points, only three behind Weber. Adam Zellmer sits in eighth place with Brady Ascherien ninth and Cal Swenson tenth.
The pits and grandstands will open at 3:00pm on Wednesday with hot laps beginning at 6:00pm. Sunday, the pits will open at 1:30pm with gates opening at 4:00pm and opening ceremonies beginning at 6:00pm.
