Shake Up Jacob – Racing Happens

NEWTON (June 29, 2010) – Last weekend took Jacob Ossenfort to I-90 Speedway in Hartford, South Dakota, where he competed in the 360 ASCS Regional Nationals.
Friday night started with a few hot laps around the three eighths mile oval. “This track is really a fun one for me. It’s wide and it’s usually manageable.” Jacob had to say. Hot laps went well for the seventeen year old, getting him ready for the rest of the night.
Jacob drew a twenty, putting him the second starting position for his heat. “The track was tacky and I got the grip I needed where ever I went. It was a great race, exactly how I like to run them.” Jacob said of his heat. The #99J ran second holding off the competition, until his right rear tire went down on the white flag lap, causing him to pull into the pits before the checkered was thrown. “It was pretty disappointing but racing happens.”
Although Jacob was unable to cross the finish line for his heat, he still made the night’s B-Main event, starting in sixth. Jacob drove his Knology #99J up to a third place finish, picking the others off one by one. The transfer to make it to the A-Main was cut off at fourth place, putting Jacob back in action one more time for the night.
Jacob’s B-Main finish put him in the nineteenth starting position for the A-Main event at I-90. Jacob raced his way to a thirteenth finishing position for the night. “The track was fast. Everyone was fast. I feel like we were just as fast as the leaders but the track had so much speed that there was no way to catch the front once we were spread out. I got hung up on a slower car, which made it tough with only a two lane groove to work with.” Overall, the Ossentfort Racing team had a very successful evening, transferring from the B-Main to make the Friday evening main event.
“Other than trying our luck again with the World of Outlaws Series on Thursday, July 1, our weekend is up the air. We have a few different choices and we’ll have to sit down and weigh each of them out to make the best decision.” Jacob said.
