“Kershner Adds Name to Hagerstown Win List With Saturday LMS Score”

Hagerstown MD, (8/19/23)- Defending Late Model Sportsman track champion Cody Kershner ended a frustrating season to collect his first win of 2023 in Saturdays 20-lap Late Model Sportsman feature at Hagerstown speedway. The win for Kershner, aboard his Wilt/Fischer racing Rocket no.2+2, would be his 5th career division victory and first since June 18th, 2022.
The heads up start would place Kershner on the front row for the initial green flag of the event and that was all he needed as he would go on to pace all 20 circuits in the caution free event to become the 8th different winner of the 2023 season. “It’s been a rough year and we definitely needed this one.” Kershner stated post race. “We had a good car but track position was everything tonight and with the track being top dominant we were able to get there first.” Greg “Spike” Moore was second, Wesley Bonebrake took third with Matt Glanden and current point leader Devin Hart rounding out the top five.
George Dixon Jr. Had a perfect night as he scored a win in his qualifying event, and then would take the lead from Ray Kable on the second lap to win the 20-lap Mid Atlantic Modified feature. Dixon’s win would be his career-first series and Hagerstown feature win. “We have lead a lot of these Mid Atlantic races but could never seal the deal, now we can finally check that box!” Kable held tough for second, 10th starting Glenn Elliott was third with Justin Cullum and Michael Pappas completing the top five.
Even with a $250 bounty on his head, Jason Stoner held off a furious late race rush by current point leader Jasen Geesaman, to collect his 8th,15-lap Semi Late win of the season and the $525 winners share. Steve Kent, Greg Diehl and Ryan Smith trailed at the finish.
Division standings leader Keith Reed took the lead from Randy Linaburg on the 11th lap and would go on to score his 6th win of the season in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature. Randy Linaburg, Tyler Fisher, Kristopher Hutton and Nathan Younker followed at the finish. Roland and Dylan Brown would split the twin feature program for the classic racing series.
