Greenbush Race Park

Taves, Borgen, Olson, Puffe, Halvorson and Current Feature Winners

Another beautiful hot and humid night greeted those in attendance at the Greenbush Race Park this last Saturday night.
In the 4-Cylinder class Waylon Current started on the pole and took off to an early lead. 2nd starting Kaylie Winge began to fade as the race went on while Travis Olafson, Justin Honer, and Jonah Espe battled for position behind your leader. Current brought home the checkers in a dominating performance followed by Honer, Olafson, Jonah Espe, and Carter Mathews in 5th.
It was a strange night for one of our most competitive classes the Wissota Street Stocks. With some other special events and unfortunate circumstances, we only had two in attendance. John Halvorson on the pole and Jeremy Gust to his outside. Halvorson got the early lead with Gust behind him trying different racing lines trying to get a run on the 35 car. At the line it was Halvorson taking the win by a car length over Gust.
As the track was starting to change into a perfect surface once again, the Lightning Sprints were next in order and put on a good show. Matt Taves and Dylan Langevin took the field to the green flag. Taves jumped out to the early lead with Crowder all the way from Colorado Springs, CO moving into 2nd. Soon Crowder would use the treacherous highline that created some excitement the week before in turns 3 and 4. After taking the lead from Taves Crowder missed the groove by mere inches which sent him literally flying off the track at high speed. He was able to land the car and drive back on to the track but the damage was too severe to continue. That handed the lead back to Taves who would take the checkers. Dexter Dvergsten took the runner up spot. After starting fourth and falling to the rear of the field, Emmit Isane was able to get back and finish3rd. Langevin and Yanish rounded out the top 5.
In the Midwest Modifieds Kalin Honer was on the pole with Taylor Jacobson starting on the outside. Jacobson would take the early lead with Joseph Thomas, Alex Johnson, and Aaron Blacklance battling for positions behind the leader. Soon Justin Olson was in the mix as well from his 6th starting spot. As Jacobson and Thomas battled, Olson used several different lines to get his Mopar car to the front. At the checkered flag it was Olson, Thomas Blacklance in 3rd, followed by Thomas and Connor Graff in 5th.
The Pure Stocks had a perfectly smooth and fast track to navigate on their way to the checkered flag. Macey Anderson started on the pole with Aaden Olson on the outside. Mason Scholin started in 3rd and made a bid before he had to pull to the infield with what appeared to be an overheating race car. Once again it was Dustin Puffe from Laport, MN taking the win with Olson, Conkle and Anderson in pursuit.
The final feature of the evening proved to be entertaining with the Wissota Modifieds taking to the track. Ryan Hagen and Bryce Borgen started on the front row. Borgen took the early lead. Further behind him Aaron Blacklance, Jordan Duray, and Dustin Wahl were all battling for position while moving up through the field. Blacklance used a good handling race car and some patience as he advanced 6 places to finish in 2nd right behind winner Bryce Borgen. Dustin Wahl finished in 3rd with Jordan Duray who advanced 5 spots finishing in 4th followed by Aaron Holtan in 5th.
Up next at the Park, will be the Wissota Modifieds, Wissota MWM, Wissota Streets and Wissota Pure Stock. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30 and the cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with racing getting under way at 7pm sharp. For more info follow us on Facebook at Greenbush Race Park.
