Greenbush Race Park

Thomas, Jacobson, Hess and Smith find Victory Lane at GRP

With 67 cars in the pits and the Moonshine Modified tour in town, you knew it was going to be a great night for racing at the Greenbush Race Park.

The Moonshine Mod Tour was making its final stop of a four night race weekend with 26 entries hoping to take home the big check. Ward Imrie and Bryce Borgen would lead the field to green with Imrie leading the first lap. Imrie held the top spot for the first three laps before Aaron Blacklance made the pass for the lead in corners three and four. Five cautions in the first seven laps kept everyone close. The field then ran 17 laps caution free with Blacklance leading the way and Joseph Thomas and Brady Gerdes hot on his heels. Blacklance and Thomas had to deal with heavy lapped traffic until two cautions with six to go put everyone behind them. Thomas was able to get by Blacklance in corners three and four with three to go and went on to get the win, and the sweep. Blacklance had to fend of the hard charging Zach Johnson for second. Johnson came all the way from 21st to finish third. Heat wins went to Shawn Teunis, Travis Saurer, and Dustin Wahl.

The Wissota Midwest Modified feature had its share of cautions. Joel Olson led the first lap and by the time they came around for lap two Connor Drewery was out in front. Drewery spun in corner four in front of the entire field to bring out the third caution with 14 to go. This would hand the lead over to Taylor Jacobson. The final caution came on lap 10 and set up a five-lap sprint to the finish. Aaron Blacklance gave Jacobson a run but at the checkers it was Jacobson by a half a car length. Blacklance finished second and won his heat and Justin Olson was third. Drewery picked up the other heat win.

The Wissota Street feature had three cautions in the first two laps and then rattled off 13 caution free laps. Trey Hess was in command but Jeremy Gust made sure it wouldn't be easy, as the pair chased each other those final 13 laps. Gust made it interesting as he got to the back of Hess' bumper but didn't have enough to make the pass, as Hess went on to get win number two on the year. Gust would finish second and Jerome Berger third. Heat wins went to Berger and John Halvorson.

The Wissota Pure Stock feature was the only feature to run caution free. Steve Nordhagen led all 15 laps but was DQ'd after the race giving the win to Jake Smith. Josh Berg was second and won the lone heat and Dusty Caspers was third.

The MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprints were back at the Park, and anyone that has followed this group knew that it would only be a matter of time before Kate or Matthew Taves would park it in Victory Lane. It would be the Taves siblings sharing the front row with Kate bolting to the early lead. Three cautions in the first seven laps kept everyone close but Kate had great restarts to keep her out in front. Alex Truscinski got by Dylan Langevin with about four to go, but didn't have enough laps to run down Kate, as the 17-year-old went on to get her first ever Lightning Sprint feature win. Truscinski finished second and Langevin third. Heat wins went to Dexter Dvergsten and Alan Truscinski.

Up next at the Park, the NLRA Late Models will be here along with the Wissota Modifieds, Streets and Pure Stocks along with the 4 Cylinders. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30 and the cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with racing getting under way at 7pm sharp.
