Greenbush Race Park
New winners in Victory Lane at GRP
After a planned week off and an unplanned week off the Greenbush Race Park got back to racing action as 78 drivers sighed in, in hopes of taking home the checkered flag on a hot summer night.
Dusty Caspers would sit on the pole for the seven car Wissota Pure Stock feature and it would be Caspers leading the way for a better part of the race, but a caution with four to go forced him to the pits with mechanical issues. This would hand the lead to Josh Berg and Berg would hold off Dave Meyer to pick up the win and a sweep of the night. Meyer finished second and Brandon Puschinsky third.
The Wissota Streets would send 11 cars out to take the green for their feature, and Jayson Bronk would sit on the pole. But when the came around to complete lap one it would be Jerome Berger out in front. Berger lead the way for the first half of the race until Trey Hess got under him in corner four to take the lead with seven to go. Hess went on to get the win and sweep of the night. John Halvorson finished second and Tucker Pederson was third and picked up the other heat win.
A full field of Wissota Midwest Mods took to the track for their 18 car feature and it would be Joel Olson and Brandon Rehill leading them to the green. Rehill took advantage of the front row starting spot and grabbed the early lead. Two early cautions kept everyone close, but it would be Rehill out front and in command. Rehill ran the last half of the race unchallenged to get the win with Jory Berg finishing second and Alex Johnson third. Berg, Taylor Jacobson and Gary James Nelson got the heat wins.
The Wissota Modifieds would send 15 cars out for their feature with Tim Thomas sitting on pole. Thomas lead the first two laps but by lap three, the hard charging Dustin Strand made the pass in corner four for the lead. Strand was never challenged for the lead as he picked up the win. It was a good race for second and third between Dustin Wahl and Ward Imrie. Over the last half of the race the pair were never more than an car length apart as Wahl came home second and Imrie third. Heat wins went to Thomas, Aaron Blacklance, and Aaron Holtan.
MinnKota POWERi Lightning Sprint driver Dexter Dvergsten has been really hot lately and he just got a little hotter, as he led wire to wire for his second win in a row and sweep of the night. Dylan Langevin finished second and Alex Truscinski third. Matthew Taves picked up the other heat win.
Waylon Current passed Shannon George with seven to go in corner four, for the lead and went on to get the win and sweep. George finished second and won his heat and Travis Olafson was third.
Travis Olafson led wire to wire to get the win in the Wissota Hornet feature, Dylan Black was second and Malachi Albrecht was third.
Up next at the Race Park is the rescheduled Rebel Midwest Mod tour along with the Dirt Race Central Street Stock tour along with Wissota Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30. Cutoff for the draw is at 6pm and racing starts at 7pm sharp.
