Greenbush Race Park

Blacklance, Pederson, Meyer and Pogones take GRP checkers

Another warm night greeted racers and fans and the Greenbush Race Park hosted the Wissota Hornets and Mod 4's.

Wissota Street driver Tucker Pederson has been on a roll lately and it continued again at GRP. Pederson started outside row three and four laps later passed Weston Ramsrud for the lead down the backstretch. Two late cautions bunched everyone up for the finish as Jeremy Gust got a fender under Pederson but didn't have enough momentum to make the pass as Pederson went on to get the win and the sweep, Gust finished second and Justin Pogones third. John Halvorson picked up the other heat win.

The Wissota Modified feature had an early caution, then rattled off 18 laps of green flag racing. Outside polesitter Shawn Teunis lead the first nine circuits before Jordan Duray made the pass for the lead down the backstretch. Duray lead for the next six laps before Aaron Blacklance passed for lead coming out of corner four. Blacklance led the last five laps to pick up his second win in a row, Aaron Holtan finished second and won his heat and Duray finished third. Dustin Wahl grabbed the other heat win.

The Wissota Pure Stock feature sent eight cars to take the green and outside polesitter Shannon George was the early leader. George led the first eight laps before smoke started rolling out the back of his car and he was in the infield with six to go. This handed the lead to Dave Meyer as he led the last six laps to get the win and the sweep of the night. Josh Berg finished second and Dusty Caspers third.

Alex Johnson sat on the pole for the Wissota Midwest Modified feature and was the early leader, but with eight to go, Aaron Blacklance made the pass for the lead on the outside coming out of turn two. Blacklance held off all challengers even with a late caution setting up a green, white, checkered finish, to pick up the sweep and his second feature win of the night and first of the year in the Midwest Mod. Taylor Jacobson would finish second and win the other heat and Alex Johnson finished third.

It had been a long time since the Wissota Mod 4's have been to the Park, but eight cars made the trip and had a caution free feature with Tommy Pogones picking up the win, Blake Erickson finished second and heat winner Chad Funt finishing third.

Youngster Matt Taves and Dexter Dvergsten shared the front row for the MinnKota POWERi Lightning Sprint feature, and it would be Taves out in front early. But coming out of corner four on lap four, Dexter Dvergsten made the pass for the top spot. Two mid race cautions were the only thing that slowed Dvergsten as he went on to get the win and the sweep. Alan Truscinski started last and ended up with a second-place finish and Kate Taves won her heat and finished third. Alex Truscinski picked up the other heat win.

Only two Wissota Hornets were on hand as Carter Matthews beat Malachi Albrecht in both the heat and feature.

Up next at the Park, The NLRA Wissota Late Models are back for their second visit of the year. Joining the Late Models will be the Midwest Mods, Streets, Pure Stocks, and 4 Cylinders. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30, cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with the green flag dropping at 7pm sharp.
