Greenbush Race Park
A thrilling opening night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park
A warm and windy night and 76 drivers checked into the pit area set the stage for great night of racing that included three green, white, checkered finishes and a winner getting DQ'd.
One of those green, white, checkered finishes came in the Wissota Modified feature. Aaron Blacklance sat on the pole for the 17 car feature and was in control early. Two cautions at about the midway point of the race kept everyone close with Blacklance ahead of Tyler Pederson and Joe Thomas. On the final restart Blacklance got a good start and held off Peterson and Thomas to pick up the checkers. Heat wins went to Peterson, Ward Imrie and Aaron Holtan.
The NLRA Wissota Late Models would send 20 cars to take the green flag. Shane Edginton and Cole Schill shared the front row. When the green dropped the pair were virtually side by side for lap one. Edginton took the lead coming out of corner two and never looked back. They ran the entire 25 laps caution free as Edginton picked up the win with Schill finishing second and Mike Greseth third. Edginton, Greseth and Bryce Sward picked the heat wins.
Chris Edmonds sat on the pole for the Midwest Modified feature and lead for the first half of the race. Justin Olson ran second and on numerous occasions got a fender under Edmonds but didn't have enough to make the pass. With four to go and Edmonds trying to hold off Olson, Dylan McCaughan slipped by on the high side for the lead and Olson finally got by Edmonds to move into second. The last caution set up a green, white, checkered finish and coming to take the white, Olson got under McCaughan to take the lead and went on for the win, McCaughan finished second and Edmonds third. Heat wins went to Edmonds and Lance Schill.
Terry Blacklance would sit outside row one and lead the first half of the race, but on lap seven John Current would get by Blacklance coming out of corner four. Weston Ramsrud was running second to Current when the two made contact in corner three sending Ramsrud to the rear. Current would take the green for the green, white, checker finish and coming to the checkers, John Halvorson would get underneath Current to beat him to the flag and pick up the win. Current finished second and Greg Jose third. Heat wins went to Blacklance and Ramsrud.
Alexander Farr led all 15 laps of the Wissota Pure Stock feature to pick up the win only to be DQ'd in tech and handing the win to Billy Binkley. Macey Anderson finished second and Caylyn Binkley third. Dusty Caspers got the lone heat win.
Shannon George led 14 of the 15 laps in the 4 Cylinder feature to get the win. Kalin Honer was second and Waylon Current third. Heat wins went to Current and Justin Honer.
Up next, the Park will be hosting the Wissota Mod 4's along with the Wissota Hornets along with our regular Wissota classes of the Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Mods, and Pure Stocks along with the MinnKota Lightning Sprints. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30, with the draw cutoff at 6pm and the green flag dropping at 7pm sharp.
