Greenbush Race Park
Some new faces in Victory Lane at Greenbush Race Park
Another beautiful night for racing at the Greenbush Race Park with 55 cars ready to take home the checkers.
The Wissota Midwest Modifieds have had their troubles with cautions the last couple of weeks, but tonight they were one of the better features. Patrick Sobolik started on the outside of row one and was in control. The only caution of the race came with six to go and put everyone on Sobolik's bumper. On the restart Sobolik had to deal with a hard charging Taylor Jacobson. Over the next four laps Sobolik and Jacobson were side by side and nose to tail, and Jacobson was finally able to make the pass for the lead coming out of corner two with two to go. Jacobson went on to get his first win of the year while Chris Edmonds finished second and Sobolik third. Sobolik and Justin Olson picked up the heat wins.
The Wissota Modifieds would send 17 cars out for their 20 lap feature. Outside polesitter Tim Thomas was out in front early. A caution flag five laps in bunched everyone up and on the restart, Thomas lead through one and two, but Jordan Duray and Joseph Thomas split the leader coming out of four with Duray getting the lead. Duray lead for the next three laps until he slid off corner one handing the lead over to J. Thomas. Two more cautions kept everyone close but the last seven laps ran caution free as Joseph Thomas held off his father Corky Thomas to get the win. Dustin Wahl would finish third and win his heat. Aaron Holtan picked up the other heat win.
Josh Barker sat on the pole for the Wissota Street feature and would lead the first lap, but Dan McNamee would have the lead coming out of corner two to start lap two. McNamee was never challenged for the lead as he went on to get his first win of the year. The real race was for second as three cars, Jeremy Gust, Weston Ramsrud, and Jerome Berger all had thoughts of taking home the second spot, as they raced the last half the race nose to tail. At the checkers, Gust would finish second and win the lone heat, Ramsrud finished third.
Josh Berg picked up his sixth Wissota Pure Stock feature win of the year, as he lead all 15 laps. Dusty Caspers got around Deryk Weleski with seven to go and came home second and Weliski won the only heat and finished third.
The 4 Cylinder feature saw Waylon Current pass Gordon Hunter coming out of corner four for the lead, as Current lead the last 12 laps for his first win of the year, and sweep of the night. Kalin Honer finished second and won his heat, and Hunter third.
Up next for the Race Park will be the Rick Johnson Memorial for the Street Stocks. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30, cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with racing getting under way at 7pm sharp.
