Greenbush Race Park

Peterson remains hot with third Mod Tour win of the weekend at GRP

Once again rain had Greenbush Race Park officials playing the waiting game, and just like the prior week, the rain stopped and the call was made to go racing, with the Advantage RV Mod tour in town.

There is no one hotter in the Wissota Modified division than Tyler Peterson. Prior to tonights race, Peterson has made six appearances at the Race Park winning each time, and on this leg of the Mod tour he is undefeated picking up wins at Norman County Raceway in Ada and River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and got his third win on the tour here at the Greenbush Race Park and fifth in a row. Peterson was lucky enough to draw the number one starting spot for the 40 lap feature, and was never challenged for the lead. Corky Thomas would finish second and Johnny Broking third. Peterson, Thomas, Broking, and Dan Ebert picked up the heat wins and Joseph Thomas and Jerome Guyot picked up the B Main wins.

Wissota Street driver made his first trip of the year up to the Park, and he made it payoff as he picked up the win. Dykhoff won going away, but second place finisher Jerome Berger was closing the gap the last half of the race. Weston Ramsrud finished third and won his heat, while James Meagher picked up the other heat win.

The Wissota Midwest Mods were cruising right along as Shane Wahl was out in front since lap two, but with four to go the caution came out. The caution flew four times with four to go, and the final time it did fly, Wahl had to surrender the top spot for an apparent bad rear end. This would hand the lead over to Alex Johnson. By the time they made it back to the flagstand after the green, Jason LaValley passed Johnson for the lead. LaValley then had to contend with Doyle Erickson. Coming to the checkers Erickson would edge out LaValley for the win, with Johnson finishing third and winning his heat. Other heat wins went to Connor Graff and Frank Veert.

Deryk Weleski lead the first half of the Wissota Pure Stock feature, but by the halfway point Josh Berg was able to run him down and take the lead with seven to go to pick up his forth win of the year and third in a row. Dave Meyer would finish second and Weleski third and pick up the lone heat win.

Kalin Honer made it a sweep of the evening as he picked up his fourth win of the year in the 4 Cylinders. Gordon Hunter finished second and Jason Hunter third.

Up next for the Race Park will be the Olson cup for the MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprints. Joining the Lightning Sprints will be the Wissota Modifieds, Street, Midwest Mods, and Pure Stocks along with the 4 Cylinders. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30. Cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with the racing getting under way at 7pm sharp.
