Greenbush Race Park

Peterson, Blacklance, Berg and Gust qualify for ROC at GRP

It was another beautiful night for racing as the Greenbush Race Park held the Race of Champions qualifier for the four Wissota classes. Also scheduled were three make up features from June 25th.

To say Wissota Modified driver Tyler Peterson is on a roll at the Park would probably be an understatement as he picked up his fourth and fifth win of the year. Peterson started on the pole for the ROC qualifier race and was never challenged for the lead. Even with a caution with three to go, Peterson got a great restart and went on to get the win. Dustin Strand would finish second and pick up a heat win and Aaron Holtan finished third. Aaron Blacklance finished third. In the make up feature, Peterson had to work a little bit but by lap 10 was out in front and went on to get the win.

The Wissota Midwest Mod feature was a caution filled race as the yellow flew six times over the 15 laps. Polesitter Aaron Blacklance did manage to pull away a little bit over the last six caution free laps to pick up his forth win on the year. Justin Olson got around Paul Veert on the last restart to finish second and Veert finished third. Heat wins went to Gary Nelson, Joseph LaValley and Austin Hunter.

The Wissota Street feature also had it's share of cautions and polesitter Jerome Berger lead the way for a majority of the race. The last caution came with six to go and when they come out of corner four for lap 11, Berger was sandwiched between Jeremy Gust on the inside and Weston Ramsrud on the outside. Some contact on the front stretch for the trio to start lap 12 and Gust would be out in front heading into corner one. Gust went on to pick up his second win of the year. Ramsrud was tagged with a caution early in the race and came back to finish second and John Halvorson was third. Heat wins went to Trey Hess and Tucker Pederson.

Josh Berg picked up his second win in a row in the Wissota Pure Stock feature, as he passed Deryk Weleski for the lead coming out of corner four on lap six. Billy Binkley finished second and collected the lone heat win and Dave Meyer was third but did pick up the win in the make up feature.

MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprint driver Alex Truscinski has also been pretty tough to beat on his home track. One of Alex's toughest rivals, Dexter Dvergsten sat on the outside pole for their feature and was out to the early lead. Truscinski started eighth and had to run down Dvergsten. Truscinski got by Dvergsten in corner two and went on to lead the last six laps to get win number three. Alan Truscinski would pick his heat win and finish second, Dvergsten finished third and won his heat. Jason Berg woud collect the other heat win. Truscinski picked up win number four by winning the make up feature.

Up next at the Race Park will be a special for the Wissota Pure Stocks. Joining the Pure Stocks will be the Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Mods and MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprints. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30. Cutoff for the draw is 6pm with the green flag dropping at 7pm sharp.
