Greenbush Race Park

Duray and Berg pick up Wissota checkers at GRP

Morning showers at the Greenbush Race Park nearly canceled the racing for the evening, but the showers ended just after Noon and the hard working track crew went into action and had the race surface ready to go for race time.

The Wissota Modifieds would send 11 cars to take the green for their feature and outside polesitter Jordan Duray of Halma, Mn., grabbed the early lead. One caution on lap four and two more on lap 16 didn't phase Duray as he was in control on his way to his first win of the year and sweep of the evening. The real race was for second, third, and forth between Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, Mn., Rick Delaine of Stoney Mountain, Mb., and Aaron Holtan of Newfolden, Mn. All three held the second spot at one time in the race, but in the end it was Delaine finishing second and Holtan third. Delaine picked up the other heat win.

Dustin Puffe of Laporte, Mn., would sit on the pole for the Wissota Pure Stock feature and lead the first 10 laps before developing mechanical problems and ending his evening early. Josh Berg of Bemidji, Mn., would inherit the lead and lead the final five laps to pick up the win and sweep of the night. Al Sadek and Deryk Weleski both of Bemidji, Mn., would finish second and third respectively.

The MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprints sent 16 cars out for their feature with Dexter Dvergstein of Greenbush, Mn., leading the way. Dvergstein held the lead until lap 12 when Alex Truscinski of Greenbush, Mn., put a slider on in corner two and made it stick. Truscinski would cruise to his second win in a row and a sweep of the night. Dvergsten would finish second and Mark Williams of Grand Forks, N.D. third. The other heat wins went to Kate Taves of Detroit Lakes, Mn., and Alan Truscinski of Greenbush, Mn.

For the first time ever the Greenbush Race Park hosted the INEX Legends, and although only four cars showed up, those four cars put on a heck of a race for their feature. Tye Wilkie of Detroit Lakes, Mn., lead the first six laps before Dylan Johnson of Durbin, N.D., made the pass for the lead down the backstretch. Over the last six laps, these four were never more than a car length apart, and a side by side finish at the flagstand gave the win to Johnson. Wilkie would finish second and win the heat while Sean Johnson of Kindred, N.D. finished third and Ashton Spieker of Sabin, Mn., fourth.

The 4 Cylinders ran their 12 lap feature caution free. Brandon Hunter of Shevlin, Mn., lead the first two laps before Kalin Honer of Laporte, Mn., made the pass for the lead out of corner four. Honer went on to pick up his second win in a row, while heat winner Waylon Current of Bemidji, Mn., finished second and Justin Honer of Laporte, Mn., third.

Up next for the Greenbush Race Park will be the Rebel Midwest Mod Tour along with the Steffes Street Stock tour. Joining the Streets and Midwest Mods will be the Modifieds and Pure Stocks. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30. Cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with racing getting under way at 7pm sharp. The Greenbush Race Park will also be holding a baja race on Sunday July 3rd.
