Greenbush Race Park
A wild night at Greenbush Race Park – 7 of the 8 classes racing had track records broke!!!
A couple of quick showers in the afternoon and 132 cars in the pits set up for a wild night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park, a night that saw four separate rollovers. All drivers were okay. The first shower passed over the track about 3:30 and lasted about five minutes and the second about an hour later was even shorter in duration and that made a hammer down track even trickier to race.
The Wissota Pure Stock feature ran caution free and John Harrington of Akeley, MN, picked up his first ever Greenbush Race Park feature win. The first half of the race wasn't easy for Harrington as the first four cars ran nose to tail. Harrington began to pull away the last half of the race to get the win. Steve Nordhagen of Thief River Falls, MN, was second and Kevin Baumgarner of Deer River, MN, third. Heat wins went to Nordhagen and Baumgarner. NEW TRACK RECORD for the Pure Stocks was in the feature for Ryan Anderson at a time of 16.172.
The first of four rollovers happened in the Wissota Midwest Mod feature. Cory Asmussen of Gary, SD, was running third when he went over in corner four. Patrick Sobolik of Hallock lead all 15 laps to pick up his second win of the year with Rusty Kollman of Carrington, ND second and Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, MN, third. Heat wins went to Kollman, Blacklance, Asmussen, and Justin Olson of Thief River Falls. Devyn Weleski of Bemidji, MN, won the B Main. NEW TRACK RECORD for the Midwest Modifieds was in the feature for Patrick Sobolik at a time of 13.973
The Wissota Streets weren't immune from the rollovers as Kyle Dykhoff of Starbuck, MN, rolled in corner four with three to go. Aaron Blacklance would pick up his fourth win of the year. John Halvorson of Warren, MN, would finish second and Jeremy Gust of Strathcona, MN, third. Heat wins to Blacklance, Halvorson, and Dykhoff. NEW TRACK RECORD for the Streets was in the feature for Aaron Blacklance at a time of 15.305.
The Wissota Modifieds would make it through without anybody ending up on their roof. A couple of early yellows but they would race the last 19 laps caution free. Aaron Blacklance was the leader for the better part of the race until Josh Beaulieu of Bemidji, MN, made the pass for the lead coming out of corner four with three to go. Beaulieu would go on to pick up his second win in a row. Devin Fouquette of St. Cloud, MN, finished second and won his heat and Tyler Jonson of International Falls, MN, finished third and won his heat. NEW TRACK RECORD for the Modifieds was in the heat for Aaron Black Lance at a time of 13.429.
The MinnKota Lightning Sprints had two early cautions as Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush, MN, hit a tire in corner one on lap one. On the restart Alex Truscinski of Greenbush went up in smoke in corner two. Jason Berg of West Fargo, ND, would inherit the lead but that would only last one lap as Alan Truscinski of Greenbush made the pass for the lead out of corner four. The elder Truscinski would win going away for his first win and sweep of the year. Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, won her heat and finished second and Garrison Miller of Fargo, ND was third. TRACK RECORD for the Lightning Sprints was in the heat for Kelsi Pederson at a time of 12.152. This was also the fastest time for the whole night!!
Shannon George of Bagley, MN, was in control of the 4 Cylinder feature, however John Current of Bemidji was working his way up from the tenth starting spot and passed George for the lead in corner three with two to go. Current went on to pick up his fifth win of the year. George would finish second and win his heat while Kalin Honer of Laporte, MN, finished third and won his heat. NEW TRACK RECORD for the 4-Cylinder was in the feature for John Current at a time of 16.125.
The only caution in the Outlaw Mini Mod feature came when a driver went off the top of corner one and rolled. Benjamin Van Zile of Laporte passed Dan Kline of Ankeny, IA, coming out of corner two for the lead with three to go to and pick up the win. Ben Kraus of Kanawha, IA, finished second and Kline third. The heat wins went to Kraus and Nathan Kilwine of Glennville, MN. NEW TRACK RECORD for the Outlaw Mini Mods was in the feature for Ben Van Zile at a time of 14.338.
