Greenbush Race Park
Alex Truscinski get big Lightning Sprint win at GRP
A perfect day for racing and the Greenbush Race Park welcomed in Lightning Sprint drivers from six different states as it was night three of the MinnKota POWRi Lightning Sprint Summer Shootout.
The Wissota Pure Stocks were the first feature of the night and it would be a father son battle. Macey Anderson of Viking, MN, was on pole and led the first three laps before Dusty Caspers of Bagley, MN, made the pass for the lead out of corner two. The only caution of the race came with six to go for debris in corner one. When the green dropped, Dusty was out in front of his dad Greg Caspers. The elder Caspers chased his son for the remaining six laps, but didn't have enough to make the pass, and Dusty went to pick up his fourth win of the year, father Greg would finish second and Deryk Weleski finished third and won the lone heat,
The ten car Wissota Street feature was up next and it was all Dan McNamee of Arvilla, ND. McNamee started on the outside of row one and never looked back. The only caution came just six laps in but it didn't matter as McNamee went on to get his first ever Greenbush Race Park feature win. Chase Boen of Karlstad, MN, finished second and James Meagher of Grand Forks, ND third. Heat wins went to Meagher and John Halvorson of Warren, MN.
The Wissota Modifieds would send seven cars out for their 20 lap feature and this one belonged to Shane Wahl of Greenbush, MN. Wahl started outside the front row and was in command early. Only two cautions for the race the last coming with three to go, but it didn't matter as Wahl had the field covered as he went on to get his first Mod win since 2013 and a sweep of the evening. Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, MN, finished second and Aaron Holtan of Newfolden, MN, third.
The Main Event for the evening belonged to the MinnKota POWRi Lightning Sprints as drivers from California, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, North Dakota and Minnesota made the trip to the Park for night three of the Summer Shootout. Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, would sit on the pole for the 24 car, 30 lap feature. Pederson led the first two laps before Alex Truscinski of Greenbush, MN, made the pass for the lead in corner three. From there it was all Alex Truscinski. Two cautions on lap 10 slowed things down a little bit, but they would run the last 20 laps caution free. Truscinski was able to work his way around lapped traffic with ease and go on to pick up his first and biggest win at the Park this year. Fourteen year old Braden Chiaramonte of El Cajon, CA finished second and Alan Truscinski of Greenbush, MN, third. Kate Taves of Detroit Lakes, MN, won the B Main, and heat wins went to Pederson, Brent Sexton of Lakeside, CA, Chiaramonte, and Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush, MN.
Only four nights of racing left for the year at the Park and up next the Outlaw Mini Mods will be back at the track. Racing with them will be the Wissota classes of Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks, and 4 Cylinders. Pit gates open at 4:30 pm, grandstands at 5:30 pm. Cutoff for the draw is at 6 pm and the green flag drops at 7 pm sharp.
