Roth and Blacklance, and Dvergsten stay hot at Greenbush Race Park

After two weeks of rain shortened events, the Greenbush Race Park was finally able to get in a full night of racing. A total of 62 cars signed in at the pit gate and set the stage for a great night of racing.

The best race of the night belonged to the Wissota Pure Stocks as the winner of their feature was going home with a nice $1,000 payday. Michael Roth of Deerwood, MN, drew the pole for the feature and was out to the early lead. Only two cautions slowed this race the last coming at the halfway point with 10 to go. Roth didn't have it easy as Cory Jorgensen of Duluth, MN, was never more than a car length back. Jorgensen got to Roth's rear bumper several times but couldn't get enough momentum to get beside Roth to make a pass for the top spot. Roth went on to get the win, his third of the year, and a sweep of the night. Jorgensen would finish a close second and Dusty Caspers of Bagley, MN, third. Steve Nordhagen of Thief River Falls, MN, would pick up the other heat win.

An opening lap yellow was the only thing that slowed the Wissota Street feature, as on the restart, Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, was out in front and gone, as he was never challenged for the lead and went on to get his first win of the year. The real race was for the second through seventh spot. Six drivers raced hard for those spots and when the checkers flew, Jerome Berger of Badger, MN, would finish second and Ryan Johnson of Karlstad, MN, nipped Jeremy Gust of Strathcona, MN, at the line for third. Aaron Blacklance and Cadin Brekkestran both of Thief River Falls, MN, got the heat wins.

The Wissota Midwest Mods was the only class with more than two cautions. On the restart after the second caution, Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, would pass Chris Edmonds of Larimore, ND coming out of corner two. The race would go caution free for the last 11 laps and Blacklance was never challenged as he went on to get his fourth win of the year and a sweep of the evening. Edmonds would finish second and Jacob Wilde of Thief River Falls third. Justin Olson of Thief River Falls would pick up the other heat win.

The Wissota Modifieds would have a makeup feature to run before their regular feature. Dustin Wahl of Greenbush led all 20 laps as he picked up his first win of the year. Jamie Trautner of Hendrum, MN, finished second and Shane Wahl of Greenbush, third. The regular feature would run caution free. Tim Thomas of West Fargo, ND held the lead for the first five laps but coming out of corner four on lap six, Jordan Duray of Halma, MN, would pass Thomas for the lead. Nobody would get close to Duray as he picked up his second win of the year going away. Thomas would finish second and get the lone heat win, Shane Wahl of Greenbush would finish third.

The MinnKota POWRI Lightning Sprints also had a makeup feature to run and Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush won that going away. Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks finished second and Alex Trucinski of Greenbush third. The regular feature would be same song, different verse, but Dvergsten would have to work for this win. Kelsi Pederson was out in front for the first 12 laps when Dvergsten passed her in front of the flag stand for the lead. Dvergsten would go unchallenged over the last seven laps for the sweep, his second feature win of the night and third in a row. Pederson would finish second and Alan Truscinski of Greenbush third. Weston Olson of Warren, MN, would pick up the other heat win.

Up next at the Park will be the Race Of Champions qualifier for our four Wissota classes of Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Mods, and Pure Stocks. Also racing that night will be the 4 Cylinders.
