Greenbush Race Park

Roth, Blacklance, and Mother Nature get the wins at Greenbush Race Park

A hot day gave way to a hot night and the chance for scattered thundershowers in the area, and once again Mother Nature decided to scatter them over the Greenbush Race Park. But this week we did get a couple of features in.

The Wissota Pure Stock feature was up first, with 10 cars ready for the green flag. Dusty Caspers of Bagley, MN, lead the early laps as the race was slowed by cautions the first half of the race. Caspers would lose the lead to Michael Roth of Deerwood, MN, on a restart coming out of corner four. Caspers chased Roth for the last eight laps but could never get close enough to make a pass as Roth would pick up his second win of the year, Caspers would finish second and Deryk Weleski of Bemidji, MN, third. Heat wins went to Kade Leeper of Guthrie, MN, and Steve Nordhagen of Thief River Falls, MN.

The Wissota Midwest Mods were up next and they too would send 10 cars to take the green flag. Outside pole sitter Connor Drewry of Bemidji, MN, took the early lead. A caution four laps in would stack the field behind Drewry. Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, MN, started eighth and a couple of laps after the restart he found himself out in front. A restart with eight to go put everyone on his bumper but he managed to hold everyone off and run uncontested to the checkered flag for the sweep and his third win of the year. A good late race battle for the second, third and fourth spot between Shane Wahl of Greenbush, MN, Logan Salazar of Neche, ND, and Justin Olson of Thief River Falls, MN, wasn't decided until the last laps with Olson getting second and Salazar third. Salazar would pick up the other heat win.

The Steffes Street Stock tour was making its first ever stop at the Park with 26 cars looking to take home the $1,000 first place check. The green flag dropped, and so did the rain sending all the cars to the pits. The light rain continued and then the power went out, and at that point officials had to call the race. Heat wins went to Parker Anderson of Philips, WI, Joe Potter of Euclid, MN, Chase Boen of Karlstad, MN, and Kyle Dykhoff of Starbuck, MN.

The Modified and Lightning Sprint features will be made up this weekend, July 10th. The Modified heat win went to Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, MN, and the Lightning Sprint heat wins went to Alex Truscinski of Greenbush, MN, and Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN.

Up next at the Park is Military appreciation night. All military, Legion or VFW members can get in free by showing their military, Legion or VFW I.D. It will also be a special for the Wissota Pure Stocks with $1,000 to win, along with makeup features for the Wissota Mods and Lightning Sprints. Also racing that night will be the Wissota Streets and Midwest Modifieds. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands at 5:30, cutoff for the draw is at 6pm with racing at 7pm sharp.
