Greenbush Race Park
Imrie, Blacklance, and Dykhoff take home Greenbush Race Park wins
The day that started out cloudy and overcast with some light drizzle, but it turned into a beautiful evening for racing with 119 cars in the pits.
25 Modifieds registered at the pit gate, but it would be Shawn Teunis of West St. Paul, MB to lead the 20-car field to the green. Teunis would lead the first five circuits before getting passed by Ward Imrie of Winnipeg, MB, coming out of turn four. Imrie was never really challenged for the lead even with three restarts. Rick Delaine of Stony Mountain MB, was quietly working his way up from his twelfth starting spot and was in the second spot with about six to go, but could not catch Imrie. Imrie would go on to get the win and the sweep of the night, Delaine would finish second, and Ryan Kereluk of St. Andrews, MB, would win his heat and finish third. Mark Esala of Thief River Falls, MN, and Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, MN, would win their heats, While Jamen Foss of Greenbush, MN, would win the B Main.
Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, MN, would sit on the pole of the 19 car Midwest Modified feature and lead the first lap before surrendering the lead to Austin Hunter of Winnipeg, MB. Hunter would lead the next 9 laps before Blacklance got the pass for the lead with three to go. Hunter got spun in corner one and that set up a green, white, checkered finish, but Blacklane was able to hold off Hunter to get his second win of the year. Hunter would finish second and Hunter Hougard of Warren, MN third. Hougard, Nate Reynolds of Edinburg, N.D. and Haley Lee of Starbuck MN, got the heat wins.
Kyle Dykhoff of Perham, MN, would start eighth in the 13 car Street feature, and 4 laps in would pass Chase Boen of Karlstad, MN in corner four for the lead and would cruise to the win and the sweep. Ryan Johnson of Karlstad, MN, would finish second and win his heat and Boen third.
Jade Hastings of Grand Forks, ND would sit on the pole and lead the 19 car NOSA Sprint feature to the green. Hastings got out front and never looked back, as he was able to work traffic and hold everyone off even through the two cautions. Hasting would cruise to his first ever NOSA Sprint car win with Grand Forks, ND drivers Jordan Graham and Wade Nygaard finishing second and third. Jordan Adams of Reynolds, ND, Casey Mack of East Grand Forks, MN, and Shane Roemeling of Grand Forks, ND picked up the heat wins.
The 16 car Lightning Sprint feature had to battle through five cautions and Brandon Johnson of Holt, MN, and Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush, MN, would swap the top spot on four different occasions before Johnson was able to hold Dvergsten off for the win and the sweep. Dvergsten would finish second and tenth place starter Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN would finish third. Eric Johnson of Grand Forks, ND, and Alex Truscinski of Greenbush, MN would get the other heat wins.
Jared Palm of Warroad, MN would pick up his fifth Pure Stock win in a row. Ryan Hagen of Thief River Falls, MN, would finish second and Jerome Berger of Roseau, MN third
Tyler Jonson of International Falls, MN would take the Outlaw Mini Mod feature and Brandon Rehill of Winnipeg, MN the 4 Cylinder feature.
We wrap up the doubleheader weekend with racing on Sunday July 2nd.
Up next for the fastest 1/4 mile dirt track in Northwestern Minnesota will be our Mid Season Championships for the Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Lightning Sprints, and 4 Cylinders. Gates open at 4pm, with draw cutoff at 6pm and racing starting at 7 pm sharp. A note to all Pure Stock drivers, if you are planning to race the Donnie Byfuglien memorial, you must race one race prior to that night to qualify for the full payout, and any driver CAN NOT hold a WISSOTA license higher than a Pure Stock.
